Default for what exactly? I know you can set it to be the default for IE source
code view and for file extensions you should be able to set it to be the default
by right-clicking and Open With... Choose Default Program. So what default do
you want it to be for?

I'll get these things fixed as soon as I can, and a very genuine thank-you for
the time you've put into reviewing this.
" <<

You're welcome. Thank you for the very useful plugin. I guess the best test
is just using it, noticing strange this that happen (what you don't expect)
and noticing under what circumstances and perhaps doing a little digging to
find consistency or differences.

Did you notice the "reverse-order" effect for the "previous" menu item (with
key combo's set)?

Yet one other suggestion could be a column "(number of times) accessed", as
an alternative to normal MRU behavior. The column could just count the number
of times a document is accessed (probably only from the File Switcher itself),
allowing the ability to order the documents by this number.

I'm looking forward for the next release.

I propose starting another thread for that one. This one is getting long.

I think this is a bug. It is a regression from the pre-5.3.1 behavior.

The first priority should be to restore the previous behavior - making the
default
dir the one that contains the current file. That is intuitive and makes sense.

In addition, I note that there is something wrong with the default directory
for the File/Open dialog. For me, it always goes to the notepad++ installation
directory. It used to be, again, the directory containing the current file.
I know that there is a preference for this, but mine is set to "Follow the
current
document", and it does not work.

This suggests to me that there is probably something broken in a common function
that is used by both the Find in Files and File/Open dialogs to obtain the
"directory
of the current file". This might explain the regression.

Also, for the Find in Files fans that need a workaround, it may be faster to
use:

Edit/Copy Current Dir Path to Clipboard

and then paste into the Find in Files directory dialog, rather than going out
to Explorer to copy the path.

Thank you drshelper; an email was sent via users.sourceforge.net. You'll need
to rename the executable after unzipping.

I was sent the patched version and brought it up under Win 7. The find dialogue
box now goes away. I was sent a unicode version and I use ANSI, so I'm loading
Unicode now and will run with that and post if I see any issues. Thanks for
the patch!

"On the read-only thing, if only it were that easy! I can only get the read
only status of the current document, but if you change to a doc (with or without
the switcher), set the readonly flag, then change without the switcher to
another
doc, I get no notification that the readonly has changed for that document.
It's certainly on my to-do list, but it needs a small patch to N++ before it
is sensible to do it, without causing a hit on performance. "

No patch to N++ is needed, the performance hit is virtually null. You can use
BUFFERACTIVATED notification; then SCI_GETREADONLY to populate a map; and then
remove the entry on FILECLOSED.

Actually, now that I think about it, it might not be a bad idea to add a
read-only
flag to the DocMap in the NppPluginIface Library.

Just looked at the code at the tip of tree. I may have been wrong about the
"common function". In any case, it looks like it is being worked on. There's
a new FindHistory attrib in config.xml to control this that seems to work.
I don't think that there is a UI for setting it yet.

I am reviewing the Shortcuts table (posted on 2008-14-07),
and cannot find where the following entries come from:

Cyrillic...
Generic...
Start/Stop Upgrade
View List as Tree

None has a keyboard shortcut associated.

Does anyone know whether they are old names of current conames, commands in
a plugin I don't have, old commands removed since... ?

TIA
CChris

Yes, I thought about that, but (I think) the following scenario will break that

Doc A opened (r/w)
Doc B opened (r/w)
Doc C opened (r/w)

File-switcher switch to Doc B                    (SCI_GETREADONLY, returns r/w)
Change read-only flag, so Doc B now read only
Click tab C                                             (BUFFERACTIVATED
notification, SCI_GETREADONLY, returns r/w, as it's on C)

Unless there's some other notification I don't know about? Or is buffer
activated
sent before the actual change has occurred?

Thanks,
Dave.

It's hard to try and explain what I'm getting at, but...

I've been using Crimson Editor, and while it lacks in features compared to
Notepad++,
the one thing that I cannot live without in my editor is the auto de-indenting
of completed brackets when coding... I know that probably does not make sense,
and that's probably because I'm not sure how to word it...

This is how Notepad++ functions for me...

---
body {
     background:url('image.jpg') #fff top left no-repeat;
     font-family:Verdana,Tahoma,Sans-Serif;
     color:#000;
     }
---

This is how I want it to be...

---
body {
     background:url('image.jpg') #fff top left no-repeat;
     font-family:Verdana,Tahoma,Sans-Serif;
     color:#000;
}
---

I want Notepad++ to automatically take the closing bracket back to the beginning
of the line of the opening bracket, as I've displayed directly above... I
realize
my syntax might be different than:

---
body
     {
          background:url('image.jpg') #fff top left no-repeat;
          font-family:Verdana,Tahoma,Sans-Serif;
          color:#000;
     }
---

But CrimsonEditor does this, and it's something I've become dependent on. It
takes too much time and ruins my "flow," so to say, if I have to stop coding
and backspace after every closing bracket to make sure it's properly aligned...

Any help on how to get Notepad++ to do this would be greatly appreciated.
