WebEdit 1.3.2.3 is released.

This is a minor update release, no functionality changes. Documentation was
improved, the part about the installation process is now immediately visible
and, hopefully, more useful for beginners. Plugin source code was placed in
a subfolder of the distribution package to get it out of the way of the users.

A direct download link (89 Kb):
http://master.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/npp-plugins/WebEdit.1.3.2.3.zip

Release page on SourceForge (if you want to try other mirrors or get the md5
checksum):
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=189927&package_id=280848&r
elease_id=682616

Sorry... I come across as pretty grouchy in the above post.. but just
to clarify:
If I was pushed to answer whether I really wanted notepad++ just to drop Tcl
- I'd say no.. but i'ts borderline.
Tcl is still an important language in many fields - and under active development
- but clearly it has a much smaller percentage of users than other languages
so I understand why it would get less attention.

I guess my point is that it would be better if projects wouldn't claim support
for Tcl if it's not fairly robust or being maintained. People already love to
misunderstand Tcl - and it doesn't help that toolmakers seem to assume Tcl
support
is 'easy' and do only a rudimentary implementation.
My purpose was more to draw attention to the current state of affairs re
notepad++
Tcl support than to genuinely request you dump Tcl.. but If there really aren't
the resources to work on it - I'd still count removal of Tcl from the list of
notepad++ supported languages as a step forward of sorts.

Cheers,
Julian

Thank you for your quick reaction time. I downloaded the updated version and
can confirm that it contains the instructions that I previously missed. Also,
the important files for installation are now clearly visible when the package
is unzipped.

Good luck with future development, keep up the great work!

That has nothing to do with it.

Any anti-virus works on Windows 7 (almost, McAfee, VIPRE, and AVG at least that
I have tested). Most software that works on Vista, works on 7.

The only thing that might have a reference to it is that Copenhagen thing...

Allen

I have the same problem. I have installed the latest notepad++ - 5.3.1. I need
to edit a file in Cyrillic, i.e. Russian language. in Windows Vista and earlier
version it used to display the following:

Correct: ???????

But in Windows 7 Beta/RC: ???????

I have another graphical problem with this notepad++.

After I press Ctrl+F (Find a word) and use it, I close that small window.
However,
it does not disappear, but makes its opacity be low and becomes slightly
transparent.
But it bothers, 'cos I hardly can see words under the Find-window. It simply
does not disappear.

I hope someone will respond positively.

Many Cisco routers come with an embedded TCL shell, so TCL may become more
prominant.

> Sort descending reselecting after being disabled
This should be quite easy to fix - obviously when it's on "always remember",
sort descending means nothing, as that is determined by whatever is in use
currently.
However it should remember the sort-descending setting from before you selected
"always remember", or have it "off" by default.

The behaviour with what's in the edit box when you launch the switcher is by
design. It remembers what you typed for each document. This is purely down
to the way I like to use it - if I have 10 files open, I might have 3 "key"
files. If I edit file A, I always need to edit file G afterwards, and editing
file G means I need to edit file M. So in file A, I open the switcher, and type
G. In G, I open the switcher and type M. So, when I go back to file A, it's
remembered that from A I like to go G, so G is entered in the box.

I understand that this isn't for everybody, and an "exactly as I left it" option
would be useful. I think the "selected" file should always be in view though,
if the user has scrolled down to such a point that the selected file is out
of view, it should be visible when they bring the switcher back. I'll add this
in to the next version.

The file states is interesting, I can solve the bug where the switcher is out
of sync with N++ after a file is deleted, but the other one (where N++ thinks
the file is saved after an undo) is obviously a bug with either N++ or
Scintilla,
or a combination of the two - it's easy to see why this would happen though.
This should probably be raised, if it hasn't been already.

I'll get these things fixed and add the "as I left it" option in, and sort 1.0.1
out. Thanks again for the testing :)

Dave.

Unable to enter cyrillic symbols in Windows 7, build 7100. (incorrect symbols
appear).
Occurs only in Unicode build of npp, in ANSI version is ok.
Existing files are opened correctly.

I'm trying enter: ???????????, but what appears is OUAAI?IEA?Y.

Windows 7 english version, build 7100, russian locale.

Please, read my message again!

I am NOT talking about the text in the text box in the File Switcher dialog,
I am talking about the selected TEXT in the DOCUMENTS.

By the way, you could also, as I suggested before, create a column "Number of
times accessed" which would also allow switching to your most wanted documents
quickly regardless of what order they were accessed in.

I had read your message twice, but talking about the text in the documents
hadn't
entered my consideration, as I have nothing to do with that, I just simply
instruct
N++ to change the active buffer. Please remember I'm doing this in my spare
time, and I never thought this little plugin would become so big, and have so
many requests thrown at it!

N++ has the same issue if you click the tabs (at least in 5.3.1, haven't tried
the RC yet). Although I could probably "fix" this in the file switcher, it
would only work if you changed documents using the switcher. I think a better
fix would be to fix this in N++ itself. I'm not really involved in that, so
I don't know whether it's a known bug, intended feature, or curious side effect.
It seems like a bug to me though. Maybe I'll get chance to have a look at it
over the weekend, or at least discuss it with the developers.

The most-recently-used and most-used columns are scheduled for 1.1.

Cheers,
Dave.
