Hello all,

If possible, I'd like to see a function to save a WikiMarkup article to the
extension "mwf" (mediawiki file), and a WikiMarkup interpreter (as Notepad++
reads C++, C, and other programming/scripting languages). This would help a
monstrous amount of people write code on their computers in their favorite
editors;
article writers and template coders could save their work locally, making the
development process much easier.

Cheers,
blurpeace

Hi,

I'm interested in your proposal but NP++'s ability to handle MediaWiki markup
language will be limited. The feature for defining new file types is call 'User
Defined Languages'. As far as I can tell the highlighting will be limited. For
example the best that could be done with heading style (eg ===) would be to
highlight '=' as an operator in a special colour. Pairing would not be possible.

The user defined language function relies on spaces to terminate keywords.
There's
no way it could treat lines starting with spaces as special.

There is another feature to define file formats but I don't know much about
it. My colleague is sure to provide more information when he returns next week.

BTW, where did you get the 'wml' extension name? Are you proposing it as an
example or is it standard for MediaWiki?

Notepad++ is one the best free software projects out there. Across the board,
bar none, hands down, I find that it's just the best, and keeps getting better
the more I use it.

But for crying out loud, I did a search on SourceForge's home page to find the
website, and that blurb about having "the mission to offer a greener
environment"
came up. Nothing about the software, nothing about its capabilities, nothing
about its plug-ins, not even anything about its open-source cred. Just detached
environmentalist buzzwords.

Please, Earth Day 2009 has come and gone, and even green folks want to find
a decent text editor. Isn't it ennobling enough to have produced such great
software? The green tones just strike a bad chord.

Hi,
if i open the "search" (or "find" ? - i hope it is called so, i'm using the
italian version) window, and then i close the window, under Windows 7 RC 64-bit,
the window remains opened in semi-transparence, and there is no way to close it.
It is a bug of notepad++ or windows 7?

I am trying to create syntax highlighting for strings using the delimiter
section
on the Operators tab by setting the opening symbol to " and the closing symbol
to " but then some of the quotes don't seem to be detected so then the
highlighting
doesn't start or end where it should.

Then there are also triple-quote (python-style) strings which start and end
with """ which allows the string to have single quotes. I used a comment block
and set the opening and closing strings to """. The highlighting works fine
for these alone but with the the regular strings, the highlighter seems to
ignore
this section.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to solve these problems? I would be happy
with only fixing the first.

The problem is: you can't have different indent types per language, but you
can still set the same indent for all languages. Maybe a global option
(checkbox)
will do.

In Windows 7, the find dialogue doesn't disappear completely when you dismiss
it. A ghostly seethrough version remains, requiring a restart.

Thanks for the unicode version, I just wait for changing to unicode version
of Notepad++.

"Restrictions: - Scintilla RegEx", that means what the alpha version cannot
do, this beta also can't?

Many, many thanks! I'll try it asap. The Function List is one of the most useful
plugins in my opinion.
