I haven't been paying close enough attention to know if this the case 100% of the time or not, but it seems to happen after I save a file. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I love this editor and this is one minor but nagging item that would greatly improve my quality of life if it were something that could be easily adjusted. For instance, when I double-click variable names to copy or paste, a variable like $ThisVar is highlighted sans the '$'. It seems that somewhere there has to be a configuration field containing the characters to include in this selection; can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Are you sure you want to save it?" dialog is > displayed. Well, this also makes little sense. The Save As... functionality should NEVER be disabled. In fact, it would make more sense that when a user presses Ctrl+S while the file hasn't changed, the Save As... dialog box would appear, just to show you (in yet another way) that the original file itself hasn't changed. > Anyway let's remember that there are plenty arguments for each variant of each solution; Well, I haven't seen any reasonable argument why you should save an unsaved file and why millions of users would get into trouble with the current situation. What is really the difference except the file date being updated? > that each of the millions users silently and subconsciously thinks and > arbitrates them; > that there is a tacit consensus on the situation where "Save" (button or > shortcut or else) > does save *no matter the changes*. So, any depart from these tacit > assumptions, must > only be decided if thought, done and documented with great attention to the millions users. Well, I guess we should wait for all those millions of users to reply then. Perhaps there are even yet other opinions about it. I guess you go and ask all the users and collect their opinions. You are so concerned about this huge number of users... Strangely enough, Notepad++ has many users and I have never seen anyone complaining about the current situation. One other thing about the Save functionality: if a file was deleted or renamed outside of Notepad++ and is being kept (open) in Notepad++, the Save As... functionality is enabled again. I think this should also be the case for any file that was changed, but not reloaded. Because the current contents in Notepad++ do not reflect the actual saved state (well, they might match, but most of the times won't). One more thing, if a deleted or renamed file is kept in Notepad, making a small change and undoing it, makes the unsaved state disappear: the Save button is greyed out again. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Well, of course, I am talking about the Save functionality and not the Save As... functionality, for which I stated there is no reason at all to ever be disabled. Perhaps it is a good idea to create a new thread for any further discussion on this topic, as the original thread('s title) doesn't give a clue about the current subject. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. To save paper and space, I always print double-sided... And on every file I have to set the print options again and again and again.... because a) there is no print all tabs or all selected tabs function b) there is no saving of the print options.... If you search the forum there are a lot of peaple who have the same problem... There is also an official "Feature Request" which is unfortunately open since 2005 !!!!!!!!!!!!! :-( I really like NP++, but for printing multiple files it is just horrible, unsuitable, not user-friendly and definitelynot recommendable... Couldn't you guys fix that??? Can't be that hard NOT to reset the print options every time you open a new document... or to print multiple files together.... ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. When I change the colors for items in the Pascal style configurator, the wrong items change color in the display. I deleted my %appdata%\stylers.xml and let NPP rebuild it, and then all was fine. (Except that I had to redo all my styles.) Comparing the new stylers.xml with my old one, I see that the styleID values for Pascal have changed. Apparently the 5.4.5 installer is not updating these values in stylers.xml. FWIW I did eventually to the "view all files" page and download the Hex Editor again. It works fine now. I'm sure the reason I lost the plugin in the first place was because I did something at my end to mess up the installed program folder. Typically this happens when I screw up an upgrade, and then reinstall everything from scratch. Whatever, it had nothing to do with either NPP or the Hex Editor. Thanks again, Big Al Mintaka ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
