Estimados Colegas: Ante la situacion por todos conocida relativa al recorte presupestario en el area de educacion dispuesta por decreto del PEN, les hago llegar este mail, que esta circulando entre profesores e investigadores, para que, en el caso de que esten de acuerdo con su contenido, lo envien como forma de reclamo.

Esta disposicion es contraria a normas legales en vigencia. Dicho recorte implicara que las universidades nacionales no contaran con el financiamiento minimo para funcionar durante el ano. En particular la Universidad de Buenos Aires debera cerrar sus puertas a partir del 1 de octubre de 1999, ya que no contara con los recursos para pagar los salarios de su personal docente y no docente. Ud. puede colaborar para evitar el cierre de las universidades nacionales argentinas, manifestando su oposicion a la reduccion del presupuesto resuelta por el gobierno argentino. This decision is contrary to the present legislation. This reduction will imply that the Public Universities will not have enough resources to function during the whole year. In particular, the University of Buenos Aires will have to be closed down in October 1st 1999, as it will not have the funds to pay even the salaries of its personel.
