Sean Busbey created ACCUMULO-4491: ------------------------------------- Summary: operations tool to enable the administrative user in kerberos installations w/o security reset Key: ACCUMULO-4491 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-4491 Project: Accumulo Issue Type: Improvement Affects Versions: 1.8.0, 1.7.2, 1.7.1 Reporter: Sean Busbey Priority: Critical Fix For: 2.0.0
Right now converting an existing cluster to use Kerberos requires using the {{accumulo init --reset-security}} tool in order to replace the "root" user with an appropriate administrative user principal. This has the side effect of dumping existing user permission information. That means downstream folks have to use the config dumping tools or the like in order to save existing permissions if they want to refer to them later while setting up kerberos users. It'd be preferable for us to have a cli tool to set the administrative user. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
