bq. I can add a blurb to the website when it gets released, Josh Elser. Should
it go in projects.md or some other page?

Awesome. Thanks in advance. That sounds like a good place to me.

I'm going to go ahead and close this issue (since it was addressed in Presto,
not here in Accumulo) and open an issue to make sure we don't forget about
updating the website.

Bloomberg contributed an Accumulo connector for Presto that was recently
merged. It will be available in the next release, 0.153.

Presto passes the username to the connector, but there is no authentication, so
it can be trivially forged. Better security support is on our roadmap.

[~dallaybatta] I believe this ticket is technically idle. [~arshak] gave a
presentation on a proprietary connector he and his company worked on at the
Accumulo Summit, but there are not definite plans for an open source
implementation. Feel free to read their slides to get an impression of what
they did. Feel free to take on the task if it interests you.

Can we do this work as a contribution to Presto, then track what the Presto
ticket is here?

In general, we're trying to get these kinds of connectors baked in to the
project that would be connecting. Accumulo's APIs are stable, so said
connectors should be able to work across multiple Accumulo versions.

I think so. I saw a pull request for the Cassandra plugin
(https://github.com/facebook/presto/pull/953). I assume as long as we build it
according to their coding standards (https://github.com/airlift/codestyle) we
can ask them to include it in the Presto project.

I'll double check with the Presto dev list.
