I haven't analyzed them, but vbios.rom should _not_ be a function of what's
plugged in. I sincerely hope that both of those files are the same. If they're
different, perhaps it's because

PCIROM is almost always bad. You want to use PROM. There's a bug on Kepler
chips for reading from PROM where it sometimes fails. It should be fixed by

Is it some enormous monitor (resolution-wise)? If so, try a lower resolution.
