Don't worry about the WARN -- that should get fixed in -rc7 (or you can grab
nouveau/master).

Your patch did work, thank you very much. I could load the module and use it
for a few hours without problems.
I had indeed set bit_test=1 for i2c_algo_bit although I had forgotten about
i2c_bit_add_bus can call the pre_xfer function, which expects the func
pointer to be set. Pass in func to the port creation logic so that it is
set before i2c_bit_add_bus.

Confirmed that only nv50 are affected. The blob's dac handling does differ

Commit ea9197cc323839ef3d5280c0453b2c622caa6bc7 effectively enabled the
use of an improved DAC detection code, but introduced a regression on
the original nv50 chipset, causing a ghost monitor to be detected.

You're using optimus and xorg 1.13. I believe that support for optimus is much
improved in 1.14 -- please try upgrading and see if that alters the situation
at all.

I still can't repro the issue. Another difference might be that I'm using xorg
1.13, whereas your original log is for 1.12. Is there anything in dmesg when
the hangs occur?

Things to try:
(a) get rid of the video= stuff. Does it work without that?
(b) get the latest kernel (nouveau/master git tree or 3.11-rc7+ when that's
out)
(c) a really old kernel, like

Also, I'm not particularly clear on what all is going wrong. Note that
