It's not just Prince. Universal has been going after all websites that broadcast video/music they administer licensing for, including Youtube, Google, Myspace, Yahoo, etc. - NewPowerNewYork Mailing List website: Www.NPNY.Org - Unsubscribe? Is Universal's beef only with the superbowl footage? If so, was removing that sufficient rather than shutting down the forum... or was the complete shut down a measure to prevent future cease-and-desist letters? (Odd to me that their issue would only be with the SB footage and not the rest on here) 2. It does seem that Universal has been very aggressive with protecting their assets... They have been embroiled in conflicts with Youtube, Google Video, and Myspace, all while trying to negotiate revenue pieces from those sites. 3. That being said, I wonder how involved Prince is in this particular decision. Not saying he's not ultimately responsible, since he did put Universal in charge of managing his rights and licenses. But I think this has a lot more to do with Universal than it does with any personal vendetta Prince has against fansites. 4. All that being said, sorry to see the forum go :( On 2/15/07, Andrew Stanger [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Just went to Housequake.com and noticed they closed their video forum due to a letter from Universal on behalf of Prince. Re: NPNY: Prince Videos
I am not suprised, imho, it was only a matter of time. I was actually shocked that he didn't put a halt to it sooner. It's been over 25 years of having his musical genius, his maniacal nonsense and his trantrums which usually are turned toward his fans, as a part of my journey. Nothing that he does suprises me anymore, be it good, bad or indifferent, I'v learned that it's just another day in the purple rain. The power is ours, we either accept him or reject him.
