[ns] Emulation of real TCP implementation

I am new to ns2 and trying to study the behavior of real TCP implementation using ns-2 emulator (nse). Is anyone have any experience of it? My query is how accurately can we measure the TCP behavior using nse. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
