[ns] Regarding Circle formation

2006-01-30 Thread Dheepa Rajendran

Hi,

I want to set the range of the node and the range of the node should be seen
by drawing circle around the node.

  Eg:
If a node acts as a server it should show its communication range in NAM
animator by drawing circle around it.Is it possible to draw circle for a node
if it has 50m communication range.

  Waiting to hear from you.

[ns] How to avoid MAC CALLBACK DROP

2006-01-30 Thread Dario Borriello

Hi all,

i noticed that in my wireless simulation there are a lot af DROP MAC CBK,
whose caused a very low throughput...
What does exactly mean?
Is there a way to avoid these drops by fixing some parameters in the tcl
script?

Thanks a lot.

[ns] How to disable tracing

2006-01-30 Thread Hajer FERJANI

Hello,

I've tried to turn off the tracing bu doing in my tcl script :

set AgentTrace OFF
set RouterTrace OFF
set MacTrace OFF

But this does not work, I always get a trace file.
Then I tried to comment the following line:
$ns_ trace-all $tracefile
but I get an error and could not execute the script.

Is there another way to turn OFF the trace feature?
Thanks for your help.
Bye.

[ns] Logical doubt in Ping protocol

2006-01-30 Thread ramya r

Hi,
The doubt i have is a logical one.

Under the `ns/ns-tutorial folder we have marc greis's tutorial.
Here we ping a packet from node0 (say) to node1 thru node2. We maintain a ret
field in the packet to maintain its direction.

but till the packet reaches node1 we use the c++ to define its movement. nut
after it reaches node1 thats its destination, we call the tcl.eval() function.
why is this practice? cant we use c++ code itself to handle this movement also?

Thanks
Ramya

[ns] Routing Metric of DSR

2006-01-30 Thread venusian .

Hieee,

DSR's routing metric is Minimum Hop, this means that if two routes are
discovered
to the destination the one with minimum hop count will be selected by the
destination
node. I'd like to know how is this feature incorporated in DSR i.e how r the
routes
compared before sending replies. Is it the Random Jitter which allows the
routes with lesser hops to b considered and returned in route reply.
If not how are the routes in packets compared and why is random jitter used
before sending a route reply?

Thanking in Advance
Venuzian

[ns] I got errors when running the simple-wireless.tcl in ns-2.27, anyone can help me?

2006-01-30 Thread Kai . Bai

Dear all

I am new to NS_2. I run the simple-wireless.tcl of Marc Greis's tutorial in
ns-2.27. Everything works fine. But when I change the TCP agent to the UDP
agent
and change traffic model from FTP to CBR, ns-2 reports errors like following:

 num_nodes is set 2
INITIALIZE THE LIST xListHead
Starting Simulation...
channel.cc:sendUp - Calc highestAntennaZ_ and distCST_
highestAntennaZ_ = 1.5,  distCST_ = 550.0
SORTING LISTS ...DONE!

_o50 cmd start

global errorInfo
set savedInfo $errorInfo
error error when calling class $cls: $args $...
(procedure _o50 line 2)

Anyone has any idea why is so? Thanks very much!

[ns] HELP - I am stuck on MAC queue length

2006-01-30 Thread Utente ns2

Dear ns2 users,

I really need your help. I'm completely stuck on the following:

I need to access the IFq length from my Routing Agent. Since the routing I
adopted is the AODV one, I have no more layers (e.g. IMEP) to consider. So,
FROM THE AODV.CC code, according to the structure of the mobile node as
depicted in the ns2 manual, I should achieve my target by inserting the
following line... Given this the pointer to the aodv agent,

int queued_packets = this-target_-downtarget_-length().

Well, it doesn't work. The compilation doesn't give positive results and the
error it gives is the following:
aodv/aodv.cc:1033: error: 'class NsObject' has no member named 'downtarget_'

??

Any replay with suggestion is really welcome.

Thank you in advance. I hope you can help me.
