I am having problem using trace graph. I am using wireless new trace

you are right. The problem seems to be related to the gcc version.
Fortunately there is a patch. The instructions can be found at
http://mailman.isi.edu/pipermail/ns-users/2006-May/055811.html in case
you want to fix your friend's NS2 installation some time.

You can also apply the patch for ns-2.29 provided by Tom Henderson.
Just check in the mailing list (few days ago) to get it. It's not a
good idea to downgrade shell since a lot of bug fixing would be
ignored.
