I appear to have tracked down the problem
It relates to a new "feature" in DBUS
It would seem sbackup will from 11.10 now always fail to run

I have used sbackup for what seems like a long time now and been very happy
with it, but I'm not at all happy with Unity and Gnome so have migrated to the
XFCE desktop.
