 You can upgrade your old backups by using the Restoration GUI. There
 exists a button named 'Upgrade'.

So, perhaps that is not the logical place? Can it be shifted to the 
Backup GUI? After all, it is when changing settings for making backups, 
that one may be thinking about the backups that were already made.
