Public bug reported:

Hi,

I just upgrade lucid to maverick. I had some problems with some package

[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 659020] Re: Cannot install upgrade or remove sbackup-gtk after upgrading to maverick

2010-10-12 Thread Michael G. Vlachos
I tried sudo apt-get install -f and sudo apt-get autoremove with no luck
and then I did the following

sudo updatedb
locate sbackup-gtk sbackup-gtk.txt
cat sbackup-gtk.txt

This returned some files for sbackup-gtk which I deleted

sudo rm /var/crash/sbackup-gtk.0.crash
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/sbackup-gtk.list
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/sbackup-gtk.md5sums
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/sbackup-gtk.postinst
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/sbackup-gtk.postrm
rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/sbackup-gtk.prerm

Now I can run update-manager and sudo apt-get update and upgrade with no
problem.

sbackup is still installed but if I try to remove ti and install it
again I have the same problem and I have to do again the same procedure
in order to resolve it.

i used to have a cron job setup to run sbackup on servers every night:

if [ -x /usr/sbin/sbackupd ]; then /usr/sbin/sbackupd; fi;

After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10 this no longer seems to workHelp?

[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 659020] Re: Cannot install upgrade or remove sbackup-gtk after upgrading to maverick

2010-10-12 Thread Matt_H
I'm having problems with sbackup as well after upgrading from 10.04 to
10.10. In 10.04 you could launch it from the Administration menu and it
required sudo access. Now in 10.10 it is launched from the Accessories
menu and is not found in the Administration menu. When you launch it
from the Accessories menu in 10.10 it does not remember the
configuration you had in 10.04, instead loading a default profile and
asking for you to save your configuration. However, the backup still
runs using the configuration you had in 10.04. I tried copying the
configuration file from the version in 10.04 (located in 'etc') to the
new version in 10.10 (located in 'home/userid/.config') but then a
permission denied error comes up. Also, I can't restore using the new
10.10 version when pointing to the existing backup files created by the
10.04 version, as it does not have permission to the directory I used to
store the backup files.

Basically, I've got the version that requires sudo access running in the
background properly as it did in 10.04, but I can't access it via the
gui. I'd be happy reconfiguring and using the user version accessible
in the gui, but I'm afraid it will conflict with the sudo version
already running.

2010-10-12 Thread Jean-Peer Lorenz
Question #129095 on Simple Backup changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/129095

Status: Open = Answered

Jean-Peer Lorenz proposed the following answer:
Thanks for using SBackup.

Beginning with sbackup 0.11.x the naming scheme was changed. It is now
more consistent and intuitive. sbackupd was renamed since it's actually
not a system deamon:

'sbackup' - the backup programm (was 'sbackupd')
'sbackup-config-gtk' - configuration gui written in GTK+
'sbackup-restore-gtk' - restoration and snapshot handling (delete, upgrade)
written in GTK+

HTH,
Jean-Peer.

P.S.: You can define/set up a cron job using the configuration gui (when
running as root). Supported are simple schedules (e.g. daily, hourly) as well
as custom cron expressions (e.g. 10 * * * *).

[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 655654] Re: Unable to mount host message in sbackup in ssh connection

2010-10-12 Thread Jean-Peer Lorenz
Thank you for using SBackup and for taking the time reporting this bug.

In order to track down the cause of the problem some more information
are required. Please answer the following questions:

* what distribution do you use?
* what version of sbackup is installed; from where was it installed (PPA, from
source)?
* Is the bug reproducible; does it happen every time?
* do you run sbackup as superuser (root) or as regular user?
* Do backups work in general for you?
* Do manual backups (started from Configuration GUI) work as expected?
* are you able to open your backup destination using Nautilus/command line?
* How do you invoke the backup process?

Thanks for your help.

[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 659020] Re: Cannot install upgrade or remove sbackup-gtk after upgrading to maverick

2010-10-12 Thread Jean-Peer Lorenz
There are usually two reasons for this error:
* the cached directory is empty
  - caused by icons pack uninstall removing files but leaving directory in
place
*directory is not empty but the icons are not in subfolders named WIDTHxHEIGHT
(icon dimensions).

Please check the theme folder /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark. Did you
installed any icons manually?
Does re-installing the ubuntu-mono-dark theme help?

The icons are there. The obly change I did is that I replaced manualy
