And this leads to my *assumption* that something different goes wrong. sbackup
uses the same code for copying/writing of small, medium and large files :-) So,
this shouldn't make any difference. Difficult to track down.

Anyway, some more questions:
* do you have issues when you limit the size of your excludes file?
* did you ever had problems when using nautilus etc.?

I've found a similar bug related to GIO/GVFS (sbackup uses it too) in LP
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/222043) and
Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545229).

Interesting, have a look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1278655

Thanks again for your help.

[Nssbackup-team] [Question #144229]: Incremental backup size very large

2011-02-05 Thread max
New question #144229 on Simple Backup:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/144229

Hi,

The size of my incremental backups seems to be very large. On 29/1/2011 I did a
full backup, which came to 12.7GB. I've configured sbackup to do a full backup
every 30 days.

Today I ran a backup. It detected that it should be an incremental backup, but
it wants to transfer 11086MiB. I'm pretty sure I haven't created another 11GB
worth of files in 7 days! I can't see why it wants to transfer so much?

I enabled debug logging mode, but I can't see exactly which new files it's
transferring. Here's some of the log:

[Nssbackup-team] [Question #144213]: backups impossible with ftp ssl

2011-02-05 Thread azerty220
New question #144213 on Simple Backup:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/144213

I think I have the same problem as question #131760.

I am currently doing my backups on a server with ssh password without problem.

This server has an explicit ssl ftp (vsftpd), which is accessible and
functional from filezilla.
For example, I can also make backups to it from windows and Cobian backup
software.

Simple Backup does not allow to choose the type of SSL (implicit or explicit),
and type of transfer mode (passive or active), which is necessary to write to a
ftp server with vsftpd.

Does this will be possible in a future version?

Thank you.

Yes.

Yes,

caused by sbackup.

I think you haven't read the report carefully enough. :) Sbackup works
on every other computer in the house (same network) and even on the
computer which is having the problem -- if I make sure the exclude file
doesn't get too big. It looks like it's either run into some size limit
or is timing out when building the exclude file. I think the
input/output error looks to me (I'm a *nix programmer for a living) like
a red herring. But, as I said earlier, you know more about it than I do.
