[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 661746] Re: Error in stream protocol: End of stream
Thanks for your response. > Sbackup works on every other computer in the house (same network) and even on > the > computer which is having the problem -- if I make sure the exclude file > doesn't get too big And this leads to my *assumption* that something different goes wrong. sbackup uses the same code for copying/writing of small, medium and large files :-) So, this shouldn't make any difference. Difficult to track down. Anyway, some more questions: * do you have issues when you limit the size of your excludes file? * did you ever had problems when using nautilus etc.? I've found a similar bug related to GIO/GVFS (sbackup uses it too) in LP (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/222043) and Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545229). > The other difference with the netbook is that it is connected to the network > over wireless Interesting, have a look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1278655 Thanks again for your help. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #545229 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545229 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Simple Backup Maintainers, which is subscribed to sbackup in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661746 Title: Error in stream protocol: End of stream ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team Post to : nssbackup-team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Nssbackup-team] [Question #144229]: Incremental backup size very large
New question #144229 on Simple Backup: https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/144229 Hi, The size of my incremental backups seems to be very large. On 29/1/2011 I did a full backup, which came to 12.7GB. I've configured sbackup to do a full backup every 30 days. Today I ran a backup. It detected that it should be an incremental backup, but it wants to transfer 11086MiB. I'm pretty sure I haven't created another 11GB worth of files in 7 days! I can't see why it wants to transfer so much? I enabled debug logging mode, but I can't see exactly which new files it's transferring. Here's some of the log: 2011-02-05 17:23:34,211 - INFO in profile_handler.__retrieve_basic_infos(420): Last full backup is fresh (7 days old )-> make an increment 2011-02-05 17:23:34,211 - DEBUG in pathparse.query_mount_uri(252): get_mount_uri: ftp://max@nasmachine/disk1/share/Backups/sbackup/mylaptop 2011-02-05 17:23:34,212 - DEBUG in profile_handler.__retrieve_basic_infos(440): Snapshot path: ftp://max@nasmachine/disk1/share/Backups/sbackup/mylaptop/2011-02-05_17.23.34.211711.mylaptop.inc 2011-02-05 17:23:34,299 - INFO in profile_handler.process(143): Snapshot '2011-02-05_17.23.34.211711.mylaptop.inc' is being made. 2011-02-05 17:23:34,299 - INFO in profile_handler.process(150): Setting Base to '2011-01-31_20.13.15.811573.mylaptop.inc'. 2011-02-05 17:23:34,300 - INFO in profile_handler.process(159): Setting packages File. 2011-02-05 17:23:34,630 - INFO in profile_handler.process(169): Setting Excludes File. 2011-02-05 17:23:34,631 - INFO in profile_handler.process(177): Setting compression format to `none` 2011-02-05 17:23:34,632 - DEBUG in snapshot.setFormat(476): Set the compression format to none 2011-02-05 17:23:34,632 - INFO in profile_handler.process(193): Option 'Follow symbolic links' is disabled. 2011-02-05 17:23:34,704 - WARNING in tar.getHeader(1055): error on closing the snarfile header after reading: Data connection closed (Regex matches follow) 2011-02-05 17:23:51,834 - WARNING in _gio_utils.query_fs_info(418): Error in `query_fs_info`: Operation not supported by backend [ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED - Operation not supported for the current backend.] 2011-02-05 17:23:51,836 - DEBUG in _gio_utils.query_fs_info(422): FS info - size: -1 free: -1 2011-02-05 17:23:51,837 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(236): Summary of backup 2011-02-05 17:23:51,837 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(237): Number of directories: 8418. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,837 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(238): Total number of files: 32789. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,838 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(239): Number of symlinks: 1. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,838 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(240): Number of files included in snapshot: 6620. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,838 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(241): Number of new files (also included): 6011. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,838 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(242): Number of files skipped in incremental snapshot: 26169. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,839 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(243): Number of items forced to be excluded: 5. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,839 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(244): Number of items to be excluded by config: 965. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,839 - INFO in profile_handler.__collect_files(245): Maximum free size required is '11086 MiB 823 KiB 252'. 2011-02-05 17:23:51,840 - WARNING in profile_handler.__collect_files(248): Unable to query available space on target: Operation not supported 2011-02-05 17:23:51,849 - INFO in profile_handler.process(202): Snapshot is being committed 2011-02-05 17:23:52,174 - INFO in tar._mk_tar_incr(372): Launching TAR to make incremental backup. ... [Nssbackup-team] [Question #144213]: backups impossible with ftp ssl
New question #144213 on Simple Backup: https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/144213 I think I have the same problem as question #131760. I am currently doing my backups on a server with ssh password without problem. This server has an explicit ssl ftp (vsftpd), which is accessible and functional from filezilla. For example, I can also make backups to it from windows and Cobian backup software. Simple Backup does not allow to choose the type of SSL (implicit or explicit), and type of transfer mode (passive or active), which is necessary to write to a ftp server with vsftpd. Does this will be possible in a future version? [Nssbackup-team] [Bug 661746] Re: Error in stream protocol: End of stream
> What distribution do you use Ubuntu 10.10 > what version of sbackup 0.11.3ubuntu1. Installed from the standard repositories. > reproducible? yes. Happens every time. > do you run sbackup as superuser (root) yes. > are you able to open your backup destination using Nautilus/command line? Yes. > Is this issue still valid? Yes, > At first glance, your specific error (Input/output error) looks like an underlying problem to me (e.g. network connection) not directly caused by sbackup. I think you haven't read the report carefully enough. :) Sbackup works on every other computer in the house (same network) and even on the computer which is having the problem -- if I make sure the exclude file doesn't get too big. It looks like it's either run into some size limit or is timing out when building the exclude file. I think the input/output error looks to me (I'm a *nix programmer for a living) like a red herring. But, as I said earlier, you know more about it than I do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Simple Backup Maintainers, which is subscribed to sbackup in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661746 Title: Error in stream protocol: End of stream ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team Post to : nssbackup-team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
