Question #219980 on sbackup changed:

Status: Answered = Open

Anthony O. is still having a problem:
Thanks for your answer Anton.
No I don't want to manually access or edit any file from it.
I just want to evaluate sbackup solution versus others on Ubuntu, and wanted to
know which techniques is implemented here, but there is no documentation and so
I was surprised for an open source project...
So there is an incremental feature ? Using diff like rdiff-backup, or copying
only new files more like rsnapshot ?
And those number of accessory files, what are they ? Metadatas indicating
dates and writes for files ? Other ?

Thanks !

Anton posted a new comment:
The incremental backup indeed just copies new files, those modified after the
last backup.
About the other files, I don't know. Jean-Peer Lorenz is the current main
developer so he should be able to explain what these are.

[Nssbackup-team] [Question #220090]: sbackup freezes backing-up to external networked device

2013-01-24 Thread Stephen Rynas
New question #220090 on sbackup:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/220090

sbackup periodically failed when backing up to a USB flash drive located on my
network router. This issue has been resolved by auto-mounting the USB flash
drive with fstab. I suspect that there may be an issue with sbackup attempting
to mount an external netwoked device (USB Flashdrive). sbackup works as
expected when the external networked device is already mounted.

At this time, I would like to suggest that the sbackup icons be changed to look
differently, The admistrative and user versions need a different look and feel.
The current visual cues are confusing.

Question #220090 on sbackup changed:

Status: Open = Solved

Stephen Rynas confirmed that the question is solved:
After posting it occured to me that a USB flash drive format is cifs.
However, before fstab can use cifs two utility packages have to be
installed.

sudo apt-get install cifs-utils smbnetfs

12.10 cifs shares not mounting after modifying /etc/fstab
http://askubuntu.com/questions/199142/12-10-cifs-shares-not-mounting-after-modifying-etc-fstab

Whether the presence or absence of these utilities has an effect on the
operation of sbakckup, I don't know.
