[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 775942] Re: corrupt gzip file

2011-05-03 Thread Vlad
The file is about 350GB and it gets to at least 120GB (that's the last
time I looked) before it fails.

[Nssbackup-team] [Bug 775942] [NEW] corrupt gzip file

2011-05-02 Thread Vlad
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, sbackup 0.11.3, standard package install
(sbackup log file attached).

Due to the bug #709338, I tried to restore files via the command line by
unzipping the file first, but the file seem to be corrupt

sudo gunzip -v
/mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz
 files.tar produces the following error:

/mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz:

gzip:
/mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz:
 invalid compressed data--crc error

Given that there are no error in the log, the file has not been copied
or touched by anything other than sbackup I'm now somewhat concerned
that non of the backup are of any use

gzip:
/mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz:
 invalid compressed data--length error

** Affects: sbackup
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Jean-Peer Lorenz proposed the following answer:
 Hello Vlad,

thanks for choosing sbackup and asking this question. I suppose you use
sbackup 0.11.x? No, purge is performed only after a sucessful backup.
Purpose of this implementation is to ensure to keep at least one
sucessful backup. Consider the case of purging your old backups before
creating a new one - and this new one fails. You'd end with *no* backup
at all. In order to avoid such cases, purging is only performed after
sucessful creation of new one. So, in fact there is no way to make
scheduled backups if you don't have space for at least 2 full snapshots.

 HTH,
 Jean-Peer.

[Nssbackup-team] [Question #147281]: Purge does'nt purge the older files

2011-02-28 Thread Vlad
New question #147281 on sbackup:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/147281

I have configured purging to simply cut off backups older than 5 days to ensure
I don't end up with two full backups (not enough disk space).

From what I've read here, the purge action happens before the backup.

Not sure why I end up with the following:
