[Nssbackup-team] [Question #142032]: Easy(er) access to Simple Backup config and restore

2011-01-19 Thread Anton
New question #142032 on Simple Backup:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sbackup/+question/142032

I have some suggestions that I think would further improve usability of Simple
Backup. Since they're not bugs, I file them as questions here. Please inform me
if I should split these into separate questions and/or bugs.

>From the status icon, I think it would be really great to have a menu entry
>that opens the Simple Backup Configuration window. This could come instead of
>the 'About Simple Backup' window that now pops up. (By the way, the menu entry
>'Simple Backup' is confusing; if it opens the 'About', it should say so.)

>From the Config and the Restore windows it would be great to have a button
>that takes you to the other one. So, the Config window would have a button
>'Restore', for example next to the 'Profile Manager' button in the taskbar.
>The Restore window would get a 'Config' button, for example to the left of
>'Help' button in the top-right corner.

Finally, I really like the calendar view in the Restore window. But sometimes
it is convenient to just get a list of all backups, with some additional
information like diskspace used (and possibly total filesize included). (Now I
ssh into my backup server, cd to backup directory and do 'ls' or 'du' or
whatever.) So there should be buttons to switch between 'calendar' and 'list'
views.

I wouldn't mind spending (some) time implementing these, but would need some
pointers and help to get started.
