[NSWolves] Dean Saunders

2013-01-06 Thread chantrys

So it seems the bookies finally got one right.

What do people think about the appointment of Dean Saunders as our
new manager?  Jacquie Oatley seems to rate him as a decent bloke who
has the right qualifications and desire to succeed.  I just wonder if
he's going to be given the necessary time to get the team playing a
system that actually works for our untalented squad.

I thought they'd have shied away from appointing a foreign manager after the
Solbakken experiment.

I'm a*GOG* that it's happened so fast.

I think it's interesting in the context of the manager now being one of
several senior management figures at Wolves. It seems he will have
responsibility for coaching the first team but that much of the scouting
and youth system will be dealt with by his new peers. That is a step
forward that a standard replacement manager in the traditional mould would
not have brought.

Presumably the zonal marking concept will be dropped and it will be back to
hoofball. The players should be able to manage that in time for Friday's
Bald Norweigan Ex-Manager Derby

I wonder if we will see an immediate response as the players try to
impress the new manager.  Luckily for us the Blackburn game is being
shown live on Setanta so we'll get to witness the new dawn as it
unfolds.

Re: [NSWolves] Dean Saunders

2013-01-06 Thread Steven Millward
6:45am saturday kick off. I haven't watched a game this season but this
might be the one. I might not need to watch another if the performance is
bad.

There was a comment somewhere over the weekend from a journalist who said
it wasn't a matter of Solbakken losing the dressing room - he never found
it - they never really understood what he wanted them to do. I assume DS
will be more pragmatic and will take on board something of what the players
say.

The core of this team was one of the top 20 teams in England a year ago. I
can't help thinking that turning this team around will be a really easy
job. DS did a similar job at Doncaster.

DS is supposedly a fan of 352 and Kevin Thelwell has written a book on that
formation. At least we would only have to pick three of our crap defenders
rather than four.

The latest poll on MolMix has DS's approval rating at 45% - the same as
Solbakken's just before he was sacked. Far from a popular appointment.

I'm still waiting for Rog's verdict.
