I don't think I could argue with that. McCarthy is a good Championship manager, as proven by his success with us and other clubs at that level. I've always maintained that we should have moved on from him after our second year in the Premiership, after he'd got us promoted and then kept us up for 2 seasons. We'd got the best out of him with promotion and then 2 seasons of 'backs to the wall' stuff playing with the big boys, but that was the time to move on, acknowledge him for what he'd achieved and find someone capable of taking us forward to the next level of becoming an established 'middle tier' Premiership club. The timing of his eventual sacking and the way it was executed with no succession plan in place was the start of the decline that in all likelihood will see us relegated to League 1 on Saturday. There's a number of people who need to shoulder blame for the state of our club at the moment and I don't believe Mick McCarthy should be high on that list. If the club had gone about their business in a more considered and professional way we whould likely be sitting pretty in the Prem now, with Mick recognised as one of our most important managers in recent times who played a vital role in enabling that to happen.
