Well I have been typesetting books in plain tex and pdftex for a

Is it inherently tricky to get Type1 PS Mac fonts working with ConTeXt
luatex on Linux? I'm trying to avoid spending another $300 for some

Right. I have tried

Sorry, my mistake. If I unset TEXMFCACHE, then mtxrun is run also from

mostly ok (as I use them myself interfaces are
unlikely to change anyway), but there is not much documentation
then. The documentation landscape would look less confusing if
we'd kick out \PDFTEX\ and \XETEX\ support (read: \MKII). We
should look forward. \stopitem

Try to process the following with XeTeX (I would be grateful if anyone

hyphenation patterns don't work when ' is replaced by proper quotation

Hi Wolfgang,
Thanks, that gets me closer (though \highlow and \lowhigh result in
undefined control sequence here).
However, the superscripted text is not reduced in size at all. This seems
to be XeTeX-specific, as using PDFTeX works fine. The same issue arises
using \small{} in XeTeX

with it: the superscripted text appears in italic Computer Modern. I'm
using Gentium Book Basic as my body font, using XeTeX. The Gentium typeface
is used perfectly everywhere, including the '2' in '2^nd', with the
exception of the superscripted text.
So what solutions are to hand
really have an aversion to it.

Hi all,
I'm new to TeX, ConTeXt, and XeTeX.
I'm progressing fine except for in one area: even though I'm told I'm using
the best possible software for easy typeface use in TeX, I'm finding this
area (i.e., fonts) confusing and badly documented
