Looks like it. The last line in the mpy file

  endgraphictextfig;

not --cycle.

Can you try this?

   makempy --force --noclean MP-mpgraph.mpo

The last lines in the (now kept) mpy-MP-mpgraph.tmp should be

--cycle;
  endfig;

If not, your pstoedit is broken. If yes, your makempy script
is broken.

Good luck, Taco

[NTG-context] garden art (was: presentations in ConTeXt)

2005-06-29 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm

Am 2005-06-28 um 19:25 schrieb Mojca Miklavec:

have

the Kochloewe_c picture it works.

http://contextgarden.net/images/6/65/Kochloewe_c.jpg (the one on the
first page).
BTW this picture was drawn by my former wife for a ConTeXt cookbook
project that rests in peace.
I never could convince her to draw some gardening lions for
ConTeXtgarden.
At the moment I know noone who can draw and would do it for free (and
I can't really draw myself).

Any artists here around?
My idea was a lion with watering can (and perhaps an apron) watering
three tulips (red, black and blue) with a fence (garden!) in the
background.

You could think of more similar pictures, perhaps featuring
characters as garden plants, Meta the lioness having Meta-Fun
(juggling?), lion de-bugging (with insecticide?)...

I don't like the original TeX drawings by Duane Bibby so much, and I
think we should use a different style for ConTeXt.
I like the cooking lion, but I could image something completely
different like pragma vector art, oil painting, manga style etc. ;-)

But it should keep a certain quality level, matching ConTeXt itself.
The artwork must not infringe any copyrights, so please don't scan
anything printed! On the other hand the artist must agree to put her/
his work under the GNU free doc license.

I'd really appreciate good artwork for the garden and would be glad
to help with scanning, cleaning, logo-ing, perhaps animating etc.

I believe that the version 3.33 works, but I can't find it anywhere.
Even 3.40 is difficult to download. Usually only some polite
bandwidth exceeded message appears. I don't know if the development
of the program is stil in progress, but they could switch to
sourceforge.

The version on CTAN is 3.31 - this is the one which doesn't work even
for simple conversions outside ConTeXt. The paragraph I posted to the
list was taken from New or changed in 3.32. This means that version
3.31 can't cope with the old GS.

pstoedit 3.40 seems to work as well. I can make conversions from
postscript to metapost outside ConTeXt without any problem. Also the
posted example with metafun trickery works somehow. It crashes the
pstoedit program, but obviously pstoedit manages to produce the proper
output before crashing.

I sent a short email to the email mentioned on the webpage - I hope
they will answer.

I haven't had a look for a long time at this pdf. But if I remember
correctly, it is a typeset version of each source file. You can create
a typeset version of a source file with texexec --module tex.

You go in start - settings - control panel - system - advanced -

You have to chance the variable path and add there the path to pstoedit

MY makempy still complains about pstoedit is
unrecogonised internal or external command. I did
update the database and format files in miktex
options.

How do i tell the path of pstoedit to makempy?

Hi,

I would like to design a new head for \chapter{...}, but I am new to
TeX/ConTeXt and am having trouble.

I would like my head to be something like this:
http://www.geocities.com/arunswarup/images/title.png

I know this a more a TeX-related rather than a ConTeXt-related problem

\setuphead
  [chapter]
  [command=\MyChapter,
   style=\ss\bfd,
   header=high,
   after={\blank[3*big]}]

\setupheadtext
  [chapter=Chapter]

\def\MyChapter#1#2%
  {\vbox \bgroup
 \framed

[frame=off,bottomframe=on,offset=none,height=1cm,width=broad,align=flushleft]
   {\headtext{chapter} #1}
 \vskip2mm
 \framed

[frame=off,topframe=on,offset=none,height=4cm,width=broad,align={flushleft,low}]
   {#2}
\egroup}

\starttext

\chapter{HOW TO INSTALL AND TEST SAMBA}

\input tufte

\stoptext

More I see it, more I like it.

Is it possible to make it from sources ?

kind of, but keep in mind that it's a 1997 file; also, some work is needed to
fix the 'list of files to be included' ... do you volunteer for that?

[NTG-context] Pseudo Small Caps

2005-06-29 Thread Vit Zyka

Hi,

on the http://contextgarden.net/Pseudo_Small_Caps there is a recipe for:
- generating Pseudo Small Caps by texutil, and
- preparing typescript for variant \Var[SmallCaps] font switch.

Example for Latin Modern: http://typokvitek.com/tex/pseudocaps/smallcaps.pdf

After that it is possible to write:
  \def\sc{\Var[SmallCaps]}

  {Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  {\it Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  {\bf Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  {\bi Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par

  {\tt
  {Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  {\it Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  }

  {\ss
  {Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  {\it Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  {\bf Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
  }

Example source:
http://typokvitek.com/tex/pseudocaps/smallcaps.tex
Typescript
http://typokvitek.com/tex/pseudocaps/type-lm-var.tex
Commands
http://typokvitek.com/tex/pseudocaps/make-pseudocaps.txt

Have a small cups fun
Vit

Vit Zyka said this at Thu, 30 Jun 2005 00:06:41 +0200:

   {\it Ahoj \sc Ahoj}\par
   }

Vit,

Nice application of variants.
However, it has to be pointed out that the fake smallcaps with \tt will
be dangerous for some applications: the .8 scaling loses the
monospacing in the \tt font.
