Hello Hans, Taco, and the next gurus,

sorry for bother with another thing I can not understand. Very high
glyphs like \v S disturb grid in the \placelist. The same glyph in
the common paragraph with the same (intentionally) interline setting
preserves grid:

---
\setupbodyfont[10pt,rm]
\setupinterlinespace[line=12pt]
\setuplayout[grid=yes,width=8cm]
\showgrid

\writetolist[section]{}{See the next line:}
\writetolist[section]{}{\v Sejba}
\writetolist[section]{}{Another list line}

\starttext
\v Sejba\par
Here grid is OK, but in \type{placelist}:

\placelist[section]

no!
\stoptext

I was looking in definitions for some font-size dependent line
setting, I also tried to

\setuplist[section]{style=\baselineskip=12pt\lineskiplimit=-10pt}
but without success to lounging on the grid.

this is the default ratio:

\setupinterlinespace
 [height=.72,
  depth=.28]

Thank you Hans; after some experimenting I understood:
- height and depth in \setupinterlinespace are baseline-ratio/size of
struts (add description to tex-show)

- some my chars (/,\v S, \tfa, ...) oversized \strut size of any ratio
- list items are typeset with struts (perhaps all alternative)
- only alternative without strut is 'none' with command=\Mycommand def

So I do know how to preserve grid. But I do not know HOW TO TYPESET
\Mycommand TO FIT THE PARAGRAPH WIDTH. It seem it is not in the
restricted horizontal mode and continue on one long line. And another
question/request: can the list distance param (alternative d,...) be
glue instead of skip? For better line fitting.

example:
--
\setupbodyfont[10pt,rm]
\setupinterlinespace[line=12pt,height=.77,depth=.23]
\setuplayout[grid=yes,width=8cm]
\showgrid

\setuplist[section]
  [style=\tfd,alternative=none,command=\MyListItem]
\def\MyListItem#1#2#3{{\tfb (#1-#2-#3) }}

\starttext
\writetolist[section]{}{See the next line}
\writetolist[section]{}{\v Sejba}
\writetolist[section]{}{Another list line}
\writetolist[section]{}{And the last one}

\lineskiplimit=-10pt
Line\par
Anothet line of \v Sejba\par

\placelist[section]

\strut  %% should be! why?
After list line.

\stoptext
--

Vit

\setuplist
 [section]
 [style=\tfd,
  alternative=none,
  after=\blank,
  before=\blank,
  command=\MyListItem]

\setuplist
 [section]
 [style=\tfd,
  alternative=command
  command=\MyListItem]

in core-lst you can see how the alternatives are defined

ok, let's give you a bonus (goes in cont-new):

\unprotect

\def\definelistplacement
 {\dodoubleempty\dodefinelistplacement}

\def\dodefinelistplacement[#1][#2]%
 {\setvalue{\@@dodolistelement#1}%
{\doifelsenothing{#2}

   {\executeifdefined{\@@dodolistelement#2}
  {\getvalue{\@@dodolistelement\v!command}}}%
\setvalue{\??li\currentlist\c!command}%
  {\getvalue{\@@dodolistelement::#1}}}%
  \setvalue{\@@dodolistelement::#1}}

\definelistplacement[MyListItem][none]#1#2#3%
 {\listparameter{style} (#1 - #2 - #3) }

\protect

now you can say:

\definelistplacement[MyListItem][none]#1#2#3%
 {\listparameter{style} (#1 - #2 - #3) }

\setuplist
 [section]
 [style=\tfd,
  alternative=MyListItem,
  after=\blank,
  before=\blank]

(btw, watch how one can ask for listparameters)

\definelistplacement[MyListItem][none]#1#2#3%
 {\listparameter{style} (#1 - #2 - #3) }

\setuplist
 [section]
 [style=\tfd,
  alternative=MyListItem,
  after=\blank,
  before=\blank]

\definelistplacement[MyListItem][none]#1#2#3%
 {\listparameter{before}

[NTG-context] tex vs etex

Hi,

Is anyone using tex i.e. not pdfetex/aleph/xetex? I'd likt to go etex
only which in the end is needed anyway since we run out of token list
registers (in etex more we're already past 255)

[NTG-context] Sorting index (in Spanish)

2005-08-05 Thread Mari Voipio

Dear Fellow-Contexters,

I have been charged with editing a ConTeXt document in Spanish (of which
I understand preciously little). This far I have gotten over the hurdles
of hyphenation, labeltexts and the upside-down exclamation mark (and as
far as we can tell, the Spanish hyphenation patterns get loaded, too),
but now I have a problem sorting the index: the words 'ángulo' and
'índice' get sorted in the beginning of the index instead of among a and i.

It tried putting something like the example below in a) the setup part
of my document, b) just before the index (a bit like in the example at
http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2005/008346.html, except that
I use the command \placeindex and not \completeindex) and c) in the
lang-ita.tex file.

% Changes to sorting to fix the sorting of accented letters
\startlanguagespecifics[es]
\definesortkey {\´a}{a}{a}{\´a}  % á sorted among 'a'
\definesortkey {\´i}{i}{i}{\´i}  % í sorted among 'i'
\stoplanguagespecifics

None of the options a)-c) worked and I'm thinking that this is more of a
 stupid user problem, i.e. as I cannot find any description on how
\definesortkey works, I just don't understand how to use it properly.

Any help???

Mari

PS. Tried to find related info in contextgarden.net, but can't find much
 - if it isn't there, I can add stuff (*after* I solve this problem) if
somebody tells me where I may start growing this flower of mine.

let's try the new texutil variant since that can have language plugins

needed:

= example file in spanish
= sort order

don't worry, the things that i use are available in aleph; also, the
formerly broken register stuff in etex (year ago) does not apply to
aleph which uses a different model

(actually, if you use aleph, context already enters etex mode -)

Hi, Andrea,

Just no panic, everything can be solved.

I noticed two problems:

1. remove \input reich (or replace the reich it with any other tex
file residing in the tex/context/sample/ directory)
(reich.tex is written in Dutch interface, I don't know if that's
intentionally, but as nobody ever uses it, nobody else noticed that
anyway. Probably either the reich.tex itself or at least the demo
example should be changed in the official distribution.)

2. \setupbodyfont[pos,10pt] in s-pre-08.tex
I think this is already a deprecated way for font selecting now, but
as have more problems than knowledge benefit about/from fonts,
someone else has to tell you what's the best way to overcome this.

2005-08-05 Thread Saji N. Hameed

Hi Andrea,

I would like to add to Mojca's second comment. A possible way to deal
with the font problem is to use a font that is already in your system.
I tried using the Lucida Bright Font and it worked. First I copied
s-pre-08.tex into my working directory and renamed it to my-pre.tex.
Then I changed the following line

 \setupbodyfont[pos,10pt]

into
\setupbodyfont[lbr,10pt]

and used
\usemodule[my-pre] instead of \usemodule[pre-08] in my source file.

saji

p.s: If you have the time, a great way to learn ConTeXt is to
 go through the source code of the modules and use the ConTeXt manuals
 to understand them...

Re: [NTG-context] Presentation

2005-08-05 Thread Matthias Weber

Hi Andrea,

I think there are now two different issues causing problems here.

i) There is a font problem with s-pre-08, as noted by Mojca and Saji,
but you don't get far enough to run into it.
On Aug 5, 2005, at 5:07 PM, andrea valle wrote:

ii) You are using funny characters in your file. When I copy and paste
your input into TeXShop,
I get the same error message, which baffled me quite a bit. Then I
noticed when I remove the blank line
between % demoTest and \TitlePage, the latter will be become colored
like a comment. This means that
your line end characters aren't the right ones. You can make this
plainly visible by opening your file
with something like BBedit. There is a funny character in front of
\TitlePage. You need to get rid of it.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how you managed to get the character in
the first place. Are you using MacOsRoman as the encoding

(shows in Save As)?

Try to paste the following into TeXShop (I guess you will then run into
a font issue later...)
