Sorry for asking the most basic questions, Mojca. I never made a module
in ConTeXt and the task isn’t obvious to me.

I have to include the profiles in $context/tex/texmf-modules/colors/icc
and documentation in
$context/tex/texmf-modules/doc/context/third/icc-profiles/.

Is there any documentation on how to create a module?

I read something in the wiki, but it was all about namespaces and I
think they aren’t required here.

With the documentation, I may write a simple README.md file and include
a directory with examples (from the wiki ;-)).

Many thanks for your help,

[NTG-context] Search problems in large source code (unwanted paragraph breaks)

2017-08-27 Thread Jaroslav Hajtmar
Hello ConTeXist.
During the compilation of a large source code that contains many macros, I get
paragraph break in output. For a long time, I am looking for a place where this
problem occurs. I've tested manual checks and turned on many different trackers
(for example use \enabletrackers[context.trace] from wiki) to see where the
problem is, but I can not figure out the solution. Does anyone know how this
problem can be addressed?

In connection with this, I want to ask if there is something like
\removeunwantedbreaks ???

the region related archives (Europe, India, Japan and USA).
You can't divide it any further than that.

Exactly, it doesn't work. It's still mentioned in the partly outdated
information on the garden, but there is no 'OSCOLORDIR' string anywhere
in the context tree.

They would end up in $wherever/texmf-modules rather than in
$wherever/texmf-context, but that should not matter.

If you prepare the module, you might want to include some simple docs

Hi Mojca,

then I’ll create the module.

I guess I have to include the profiles and a README. But a simple
question comes to my mind, how can I add the *.icc files into
tex/texmf-context/colors/icc/? Is this allowed for a module?

Of course, I have to check the proper urls it before creating anything.

I see various reasons:
- I don't remember anyone explicitly asking for them.
- I suspect that Hans is not allowed to put them into his zip due to
various licencing issues, but it also increases the size.
- It's a bit inconvenient to fetch the files from a random place. The
easiest way to handle that would be by creating a proper ConTeXt
third-party module and then we would only add another module to the
list.

It would help if other people provide more feedback, but probably the
best way would be to create a module and upload it to
modules.contextgarden.net. Maybe best get some feedback about the most
suitable location of the files before creating the module?

Hi Robert,

this works with latest beta from 2017.08.24 19:46:

\definefontfamily[mainface][rm][Verdana]
\definefontfamily[mainface][tt][Courier]
\definefontfamily[mainface][mm][TeX Gyre Termes Math]
\setupbodyfont[mainface]
\starttext
 7~$\xrightarrow[none]$~6 progression
\stoptext

I canno check it with Cambria (I’m on Linux).

Either you provide a sample or we won’t guess which arrows are wrong.

I would have to do that with thirty computers. And probably I would have
to ask for permissions to copy the profiles (and set system-wide
environment variables). When a computer would have a full OS reinstall
(something far beyond my control), I would have to do that again for
that computer.

As far as I maintain ConTeXt in a common server and we use it for very
specific tasks, we only have the ConTeXt Suite installed once.

Sorry, but this isn’t practical for me (we’d only use the profiles with
ConTeXt).

[NTG-context] Currency - space delimiting thousands

2017-08-27 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing .

Hello,

is there a built-in (Lua-?)numeric format to produce big numbers with spaces
delimiting thousands (widely used for currencies)?

E.g.:

\cldcontext{string.format("%[separate-thousands].0f", 1234567.0)} % To give: "1 234
567.00"

Best regards,

Lukas

Hi Hans,
Thanks for your reaction. Unfortunately it has not helped me for I have no idea
how to set the parameter \Umathquad\textstyle. Just loading the fonts, as I
believed you suggest in your mail, does not change anything: the compilation
with a 2017 mkiv still stops at  “ 7~$\xrightarrow[none]$~6 progression ”.
However, when I use the older font calls,
 \usemodule[simplefonts]
\setmainfont[Verdana]
it compiles correctly files containing arrows ( $\xrightarrow[none]$ ) with
the pre-2017 mkiv's . With my 2017 mkiv it still compiles correctly albeit not
with the specified font but with latinmodern-math.otf. (Btw, I found the same
behaviour for other fonts, such as: dejavu, times, palatino, bonum, lucidanova,
lucida, garamond, libertine, gentium, xits, courier, and cambria.)

For me the simplest solution would be to keep working with pre-2017 standalones
for documents that contain these arrows (for musical tone- or
chord-progressions )
But it intrigues me why some process that worked perfectly in many generations
of mkiv has suddenly stopped working in the recent mkiv's.

Best regards,

Robert Blackstone

In theory you can use the environment variable $OSCOLORDIR, but it was
dropped years ago. There were no complains or error reports about that,
so no changes were made.

Would still be the cleanest solution though. Copy the icc files once in
the corresponding directory of your OS (so that all apps can make use of
them), set the environment variable manually, and done.

These are old fonts yes? Anyway, here is a better typescript:

if needed I can add type-imp-windows-chinese.mkiv but we need to be sure
about the name(s).

In your test you need:

\setupbodyfont [mschinese,12pt]
\usebodyfont   [mschinese-light,12pt]  % preloads

\definebodyfontenvironment[24pt] % prevents messages
\definebodyfontenvironment[18pt] % prevents messages

There is no need to enable utf. Your table now becomes:

\bTABLEbody
\bTR\bTD 华文宋体 \eTD\bTD \tt STSONG.TTF   \eTD\bTD STSong  \eTD\bTD
\tf  我能吞下玻璃而不伤身体 \eTD \eTR
\bTR\bTD 华文中宋 \eTD\bTD \tt STZHONGS.TTF \eTD\bTD STZhongsong \eTD\bTD
\bf  我能吞下玻璃而不伤身体 \eTD \eTR
\bTR\bTD 华文细黑 \eTD\bTD \tt STXIHEI.TTF  \eTD\bTD STXihei \eTD\bTD
\it  我能吞下玻璃而不伤身体 \eTD \eTR
\bTR\bTD 华文楷体 \eTD\bTD \tt STKAITI.TTF  \eTD\bTD STKaiti \eTD\bTD
\ss  我能吞下玻璃而不伤身体 \eTD \eTR
\bTR\bTD 华文仿宋 \eTD\bTD \tt STFANGSO.TTF \eTD\bTD STFangsong  \eTD\bTD
\switchtobodyfont[mschinese-light]我能吞下玻璃而不伤身体 \eTD \eTR

\eTABLEbody

There is no need for grouping. You switch to sans with \ss as it's part
of the typeface specification.

For other issues you need to be more specific

[NTG-context] ICC profiles in the ConTeXt Suite?

2017-08-27 Thread Pablo Rodriguez
Dear Mojca,

[I beg your pardon, if you aren’t the maintainer of the ConTeXt Suite
distribution. In that case I address this message to whom it might
concern :-).]

After reading some messages about PDF/A and PDF/X, I remembered that all
my work documents should be PDF/A.

Since we have ICC profiles in the ConTeXt Garden
(http://wiki.contextgarden.net/PDFX#ICC_profiles,
http://dl.contextgarden.net/misc/iccprofiles/complete_ICC_profiles.zip),
I wonder why they aren’t part of the ConTeXt Suite.

This would make things easier to create some kinds of PDF documents.

In my personal case, I cannot update the ConTeXt Suite at work. I have
to download it at home and replace the directory. Having to add the ICC
profiles each time is something I’d rather avoid.

If there is something I can do to add those files to the ConTeXt Suite,
please tell me and I will do it.

Many thanks for your help,

Pablo

[NTG-context] interface XML files

2017-08-27 Thread Lawrence Bell
Hello mailing list,

I have a bug report of sorts. I've been trying to take advantage of the XML
interface files that come along with a ConTeXt installation, to generate
information on the various commands. However, when I try to parse the XML
files, I discover a couple of minor errors:

   - in file "i-common-value.xml", line 648, column 24: the XML comment
   ends with ---> instead of -->.
   - in file "t-letter.xml", line 178, column 2: element ends
   with  instead of .
   - in file "t-mathsets.xml", line 35, column 0: the final closing
tag is missing.
   - in file "t-title.xml", line 5, column 35: the attribute
   file=t-tile.mkvi" is missing an opening quote.
   - in file "t-fullpage.xml", line 8, column 6: element is
   ended with .
   - in file "t-memo.xml", line 136, column 2: element ends
   with  instead of .

For reference, ConTeXt reports its version to be

Hi Fabrice,

I don’t think so. Two different conversion sets are required: one for
\setupheads[sectionconversionset=numbers] and a different one for
\defineenumeration[remark][prefixconversionset=digits].

If there is no different conversion set for the enumeration, you get the
default for the head.

Here is the full sample:

\mainlanguage[fr]
\setuphead[chapter][commandbefore={: }]
\setuphead[section][distance=\zeropoint,
commandbefore={\space\endash\space}]
\setuplabeltext[fr][chapter=Chapitre ]

\definestructureconversionset
  [structure]
  [n, R, n, n, n]

\definestructureconversionset
  [digits]
  [n, n, n, n, n]

\setupheads[sectionconversionset=structure]

\defineenumeration
  [remark]
  [
text=Remark,
location=serried,
width=fit,
right={.~},
prefix=yes,
prefixsegments=chapter,
prefixconversionset=digits,
%~ prefixsegments=section
  ]

\setupnumber[remark][way=bychapter]

\starttext
\dorecurse{3}{\startchapter
  [title={First chapter}]
\dorecurse{3}{\startsection
  [title={First section}]
  \dorecurse{3}{\startremark \input ward \stopremark}
\stopsection}
\stopchapter}
\stoptext

I hope it is clear now. Let me know if it isn’t.

Cheers,

Re: [NTG-context] Some questions about my document

2017-08-27 Thread Fabrice Couvreur
Hi Pablo,

" You have to define a new conversion set and use it for the prefix
segments "
It seems to me that's what I did :

\definestructureconversionset
  [structure]
  [numbers, Romannumerals, numbers, numbers, numbers]
  [numbers]

\setupheads [sectionconversionset=structure]

\defineenumeration
  [remark]
  [
text=Remark,
location=serried,
width=fit,
right={.~},
prefix=yes,
prefixsegments=chapter,
  ]

\setupnumber[remark][way=bychapter]

Only I get (which is normal according to the numbering chosen for the
chapters : Romannumerals)

Remark I.1.

and I want this :

Remark 1.1.

Fabrice

Hi Fabrice,

I think it would be better to use French:

\mainlanguage[fr]
\setuplabeltext[fr][chapter=Chapitre ]

You have to define a new conversion set and use it for the prefix
segments (I added the section to the numbering):

\definestructureconversionset
  [digits]
  [n, n, a, n, n]
  [numbers]

\defineenumeration
  [remark]
  [
text=Remark,
location=serried,
width=fit,
right={.~},
prefix=yes,
prefixsegments=chapter:section,
prefixconversionset=digits,
  ]

I hope it helps,

Pablo
