[NTG-context] Some ligatures don't work in latest LMTX

2020-11-23 Thread Jairo A. del Rio
Hi everyone. The following example works fine with MkIV, but fails
with latest LMTX.

To be specific, the lam-alif ligature isn't working. Compile with both
to see differences.

Majalla is a Windows font, so I guess it's available for testing:

\mainlanguage[arabic]\definefontfeature
  [arabic]
  [mode=node,language=dflt,script=arab,
   init=yes,medi=yes,fina=yes,isol=yes,
   liga=yes,dlig=yes,rlig=yes,clig=yes,

mark=yes,mkmk=yes,kern=yes,curs=yes]\definefontfamily[main][serif][sakkalmajalla][features=arabic]\setupbodyfont[main]\setupdirections[bidi=global]\starttext
أهلاً وسهلاً\stoptext

Is that a bug or are more features to be specified? Thank you in advance.

Jairo

Hi Hans,

I’m afraid that there is an error that prevents the creation of the
format file:

loading > ConTeXt Encoding Macros / Initialization

csname overload > fatal error, protection level 4, control sequence
'textcontrolspace', properties 'immutable', file 'enco-ini.mkxl', line 315

Hi Joseph,

probably the approach has to be different.

Setting the whitespace to line fixes everything:

  \startsetups[*lessstrict]
  \widowpenalty=1000
  \clubpenalty=1000
  \brokenpenalty=1000
  \stopsetups

  \setuplayout[setups={*lessstrict}, grid=both]

  \showgrid

  \setupwhitespace[line]

  \starttext

  \dorecurse{8}
{\blank[line]Fin des psalmes.\par
 \blank[line]\input knuth\par}

  \stoptext

236 As we know, a decent portion of \TEX's attention is focused on
breaking

off the page.

238 Trying to locate the optimal points to break lines is a dynamic
process. The

A number should have been here; I inserted '0'. (If you can't figure out

[NTG-context] markings in lmtx and luatex

2020-11-23 Thread Thomas A. Schmitz

Hi all,

something has changed in the way markings are handled. Consider the
following example:

\definemarking[Section]

\setupheadertexts[{\getmarking[Section][top]–\getmarking[Section][bottom]}]

\starttext

A\marking[Section]{A}

B\marking[Section]{B}

C\marking[Section]{C}

\page

D\marking[Section]{D}

E\marking[Section]{E}

F\marking[Section]{F}

\page

G\marking[Section]{G}

H\marking[Section]{H}

I\marking[Section]{I}

\stoptext

Compiled with luatex, the result is not quite as expected, but at least
it goes into the right direction. Compiled with lmtx, "top" and "bottom"
are always identical. Something appears to be amiss here.

Best wishes

Thomas

[NTG-context] flushleft nbsp with unequal width

2020-11-23 Thread Jano Kula
Hello,

with \setupalign[flushleft] non-breakable space has different width than
regular space. With pure \rightskip0pt plus 1fill all spaces are equal. Is
this wanted behaviour or do I miss additional settings?

\showmakeup[glue]
\startTEXpage[width=80mm,offset=5mm]
\rightskip0pt plus 1fill
woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo
\blank
\setupalign[flushleft]
woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo
\stopTEXpage

MWE also in the attachment to preserve nbsp.

Regards,
Jano

\showgrid

\setuplayout[grid=both]

\setupbodyfont[mainfont, 9pt]

\starttext

\blank[line]Fin des psalmes.

\blank[line]Fin des psalmes.

\stoptext

It looks ok here< I also checked the latest eb (less fonts now it seems).

I don’t understand the answer I am afraid, I’ve never seen any issue with grid alignment before (I don’t use columns either, and I changed nothing at all). De : Hans HagenEnvoyé le :lundi 23 novembre 2020 00:05À : mailing list for ConTeXt users; JosephObjet :Re: [NTG-context] Issue with grid On 11/22/2020 5:03 PM, Joseph wrote:> Dear list,> > In some cases with latest LMTX I see text not aligned to grid. The defaults are: \setupinterlinespace   [height=.72,    depth=.28,    line=2.8\exheight] so you can play with these. The 72:28 ratio works ok for most fonts but sometimes need to be adapted. Sometimes the 2.8 is not enough. (makes me wonder: i can issue a warning when a font can overrun) (normally grid snapping should catch is but columns are kind of different) Hans  -   Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE   Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands    tel: 038 477 53 69 | www.pragma-ade.nl | www.pragma-pod.nl-
