I'm sorry, your patch of the May 17 works well for dvi, but not for pdf:
the figure is again shifted down and to the left.
Here an example:

example.pdf is attached, also the resulting pdf.
Concerning
I would like for an unindented paragraph to appear after an itemize, but
I can't seem to get it to work. My guess was to set indentnext to no,
but that doesn't work. Are there any other ways of toggling this, or
am I forced to give an explicit \noindent in the following paragraph?
