At one time. I helped someone setting up TeXnicCenter/MikTeX with
Context. We added a build profile for Context with texexec taking
the place of latex. Unfortunately, at the moment I don't have a TeX
installation handy where I can easily retrace those steps. Sorry.

[NTG-context] Metapost produces unknown

2004-11-25 Thread Aditya Mahajan
Hi,
 I tried an example for generating linear text placement.
% File text.mp
input mp-tool ; % some initializations and auxiliary macros
input mp-spec ; % macros that support special features
prologues := 2;
beginfig(1)
draw hlintext.lft(0, 20, 5, 20cm, @3e) ;
draw vlogtext.bot(0, 10, 9, 10cm, @3e) ;
endfig;
end;
%-
and compile it using
$texexec -mptex text.mp
(Output given at bottom)
I get the error
unknown file type: texmfscripts

and the eps file text.1 has unknown written all over the place.
There is something misconfigured in my system (Windows XP Miktex,
updated tonight). Can someone help me to debug the problem.

Thanks
Aditya

[NTG-context] low level fonts

2004-11-25 Thread Adam Lindsay
hi all.

what's your best way of getting the current font name, regardless of how
it's set (e.g., typescript, unicode, definedfont, low-level \font
definitions...)?

I certainly know about \truefontname{}, but what to put in the braces?

tex: \fontname\font
also in context: \purefontname\font
\font\myfont AdamBold at 123pt
\fontname\myfont - AdamBold at 123pt
\purefontname\myfont - AdamBold
so,
\definefont[Whatever][\purefontname{\font} at 24.56pt]
is probably what you're looking for

Re: [NTG-context] low level fonts

Hans Hagen said this at Thu, 25 Nov 2004 13:11:49 +0100:

tex: \fontname\font

Thanks Hans. That's reliable.

also in context: \purefontname\font

This fails with the XeTeX quoted-with-spaces fonts (just gives Chaparral
) . I wasn't looking to test that sort of thing, but there you go.

Clearly \def\splitoffpurefontname#1 #2\\{#1} isn't enough. :/

I tried pragma-ade.com pragma-pod.com and pragma-pod.nl
unfortunately I could not get a connection. It seems to be wait forever
for the connection and then just gives up. I have a cable connection so
there is no problem and have also tried this from our university
computer but for some reason the server site for the standalone context
distribution with the nice setup of cscite by Hans is currently not
accessible for public download. Do others in the USA have the same problem?

[NTG-context] columnset BUG - (urgent!)

2004-11-25 Thread Steffen Wolfrum
Hi,

please have a look at testfile below:
without a footnote everything works fine,
but with the footnote the columnset gets crashed!

I noticed this bug in a bigger book project:
The columnset is at the end as a seperate document (\component).
And the footnote was added 300 pages and 5 component files before !!!

As this footnote was one of the last changes that were done
before I wanted to send the book to the printer
a fast help would be very much appreciated.

Sorry, but it's really quite urgent -

Steffen
