If you start i-Installer and go to the Preferences and you go to the
"Other" tab you can set an automatic check for updates on i-Packages
you have ("Check packages for updates...").

I had Fink. I suspect that the finked TeX derived form ancient
lilypond, as I have not installed it explicitly via Fink.
Now, Lily is no more related to TeX, and I have ImageMagick form
Gierben, so I'm obliterating the sw tree.
