[NTG-context] please add support for Korean language in unic-cjk.tex

2006-11-22 Thread Dohyun Kim
Hi.

Recently I have tried to support typesetting UTF-8 Korean language
along with context-beta. I have uploaded related files
to a temporary server for your reference (3.5Mb):

http://210.94.201.157/~nomos/KTUG/context-korean-test.tar.gz

But as the current unic-cjk.tex does not cover
Korean Hangul Syllables area and CJK Compatibility Ideographs area,
I have to edit that file every time I upgrade context.
It is so an annoying thing to do it every time
that I suggest adding those areas in unic-cjk.tex file, like this:

%%% Hangul Syllables
\dostepwiserecurse{172}{215}{1}{\expanded{\defineunicodecommand
{\recurselevel}} {\lookaheaduchar}}
%%% CJK Compatibility Ideographs
\dostepwiserecurse{249}{250}{1}{\expanded{\defineunicodecommand
{\recurselevel}} {\lookaheaduchar}}

Additionally, I here report some possible bugs of context-beta
related to CJK (especially Korean language) support.

First, unintended space is inserted when I change font family.
This disappears if I add a comment sign in \enableunicodefont
command in font-uni.tex.

\def\enableunicodefont#1%
  {\definefontsynonym[\s!Unicode][\getvalue{\??uc#1\c!file}]%
   \def\unicodescale {\getvalue{\??uc#1\c!scale}}%
   \def\unicodeheight{\getvalue{\??uc#1\c!height}}%
   \def\unicodedepth {\getvalue{\??uc#1\c!depth}}%
   \def\unicodedigits{\getvalue{\??uc#1\c!conversion}}%
   \def\handleunicodeglyph   {\getvalue{\??uc#1\c!command}}%
   \doifnot\currentregime{utf}{\enableregime[unicode]}%
   % the following \relax's are realy needed
   \doifvalue{\??uc#1\c!interlinespace}\v!yes
  \setupinterlinespace\relax
   \doifvalue{\??uc#1\c!strut}\v!yes
  {\setunicodestrut\unicodeheight\unicodedepth}% - HERE
  {\resetunicodestrut}%
   \getvalue{\??uc#1\c!commands}\relax}

Secondly, to deal with special commands in pdf bookmarks,
\simplifycommands should be added to \sanitizePDFuniencoding
command in spec-tst.tex.

\long\def\sanitizePDFuniencoding#1\to#2%
  {\enablePDFunicrlf
\simplifycommands  % - HERE
   \let\unicodechar\relax % prevent further expansion
   \retainlccodes\lccode32=255 % slooow
   \lowercasestring\PDFunicodetrigger#1\to#2%
   \edef#2{\expandafter\doPDFuni#2\empty\empty}} % slooow

Thirdly, \definefileinsertion{tpd}{mps} in spec-dpx.tex
seems to be a typo. I think this should be corrected as follows:

\definefileinsertion{dpx}{mps}

In fact, as an unsubscribed user I have posted a similar message
to the context mailinglist a few weeks ago . But I did not obtain
any response then. Now being subscribed, I repost it.

Best Regards,

\doifvalue - \doifelsevalue

   \doifelsevalue{\??uc#1\c!strut}\v!yes

in the wrong case indeed the space is visible, else not; this bug went

ok, i got it.

A general remark: the next few weeks, after the tex live code freeze, Manfred
will start assembling the tex 2006/2007 tex collection. If you have content
that is free to distribute (like cjk fonts and such), but is not in tex live,
it may get a place in on the dvd in a separate section.

[NTG-context] Still have no idea about how to specify fonts in JavaScript fields.

2006-11-22 Thread Zhichu Chen
Hello everyone,

Thanks for suggesting some great documents last time. But after
looking up in AcroJS Guide, and PDF Reference , etc., I still don't
know how can I use special fonts in a JavaScript field.

My JS code is:
--
  function start_clock()
{ var thetime=new Date();
  var nhours=thetime.getHours();
  var nmins=thetime.getMinutes();
  var nsecn=thetime.getSeconds();
  if (nhours0)   nhours=0+nhours;
  if (nsecn10)   nsecn=0+nsecn;
  if (nmins10)   nmins=0+nmins;
  font.Digital = font.CourBI ;
  vv = this.getField(time.clock) ;
  if (vv) { vv.value = nhours+:+nmins+:+nsecn;
  vv.readonly = true ;
  vv.textColor = color.red ;
  vv.textFont = font.Digital ; // font.TimesBI Cour HelvB Symbol ZapfD
  this.dirty = false }}

  timeout=app.setInterval('start_clock()',1000);
--

I guess there are already some definitions about ``font.CourBI'' but
where can I find the original code of the definition which I can
imitate it to create a new font.

Thanks

[NTG-context] on \setupindenting

2006-11-22 Thread Pablo Rodríguez
Hi,

after trying to get hanging indenting for standard paragraphs (or what
you get in TeX writing \hang\noindenting at the beginning of the
paragraph) and not being able to get this (without \star...\stop lists),
 I wonder whether it would be possible to add a command=... option to
the \setupindenting command.

I would need this to set up a bibliography where standard paragraphs
should have hanging indentation (but at margin, not in margin).

Thanks for your help,

Maybe there is special trickery needed to let acrobat know what fonts

I cc to Hartmut who is the pdftex teams weird-font-issues wizzard.

 Hi Hans,

 you can find a description of mark ii and mark iv in the following
 document:

 http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/mk.pdf

 You could add a link to this file to contextgarden.

Hi,

I've put the short description and link in

http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Glossary

where I'd like to add consistent ConTeXt terminology to make orientation
in ConTeXt easier. Others are welcome, too, of course.

After reading the document I still miss the good term for this level of
versioning (kind of version tag) to distiguish it from usual ConTeXt
versioning.

Hans H., how do you want these versioning systems to be called?

[NTG-context] overlay problem with textext

2006-11-22 Thread Peter Rolf
Hi all,

the attached example works with the version from 17.11.|20.11., but not
with the current (22.11.06, 11:02) one. The problem seems to be in the
use of textext, as it 'works' (background is visible) when I exchange

  p:= textext.rt(\MPstring{FunnyFrame}) ;

with

  p:= nullpicture ;

I couldn't test the current version on contextgarden (still 20.11.,
which works ok), so I'm unsure, if it's my messy tex tree or a general
problem.

the mk versioning is only relevant for engines, i.e. mkiv will provide lua
based implementations as well as in the future more functionality.

pdftex / xetex : mkii
luatex : mkiv

in some sense, mkiv is a next generation context but downward compatible

guess which one ;)

there is already a command \markversion, but it doesn't seem to have

 this \column is kind of tricky; balancing works best when grid is

Ok, but without \column, it should balance the columns if possible,
right?
My main problem at the moment (see above) are columns in lines

It worked once, but it broke some betas (3 months?) before.

Luckily my songbook doesn't need to be complete until christmas (I
planned so, but we don't get the reprint permissions in time).

I like to boast how great a tool TeX and especially ConTeXt are, but
everytime I try to do some real work with it, I run into unsolvable

[NTG-context] enumeration, framedtext and funny...

2006-11-22 Thread Marcel Takac

Hi,
I'm trying to make my document in ConTeXt and in I have some problem.
Problem is in my environment for theorems. Every theorem has name and
number.

I had defined enumeration for them. Theorem-text is typed in framedtext,
with backround. Theorem's title is defined by \setMPtext, and is typed
in MPgraphic (\MPstring).

I want to type also theorem's number (Theorem 1, ...) instead of Here,
but there is a problem: \MPstring{TheoremCaption} is empty.

Where I'm making mistake?

Re: [NTG-context] unic-xxx.tex glyph lists: minor bugs, questions

2006-11-22 Thread Sanjoy Mahajan
 I'll experiment, especially if I can figure out a set of magic
 kpathsea paths to keep mkii and mkiv in parallel.

 no need for that ; it is made to run in parallel, just an extra zip
 with mkiv and lua files ending up in base, and luatools.lua ending
 up in the script path; also, mkiv does not use kpse -)

Great. When the mkiv zip is available, I'll try it (tried poking
around the pragma site but didn't find it). No kpse is indeed good
news!

About backward compatability, maybe the mkiv transition is the time to
sacrifice backward compatability in a few instances where it makes the
code or user interface simpler? One example off the top of my head is
\setuppapersize[ABC] becoming equivalent to \setuppapersize[ABC][ABC]
(rather than to \setuppapersize[ABC][A4]), and there are no doubt
others. Or is the (understandable) policy of ConTeXt development that
backward compatability is paramount?

 I couldn't test the current version on contextgarden (still 20.11.,

Same problem here. It worked with 16.11. and fails with the current.

Not only textext ... here the whole \startMPcode ... \stopMPcode seems
to be broken here (where's the old good tool ctxtools --install
20061120 ?).

One of the problems that appeared with new files:

TeXExec | processing graphic '07-svd-mpgraph.mp'
sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
sh: -c: line 1:
`/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/scripts/context/ruby/texmfstart.rb'

I saw some changes in tex.rb renaming filename into mpname during mp
runs, but I'll test after I finish writing my report, not before.

I seem to be very grateful for Taco's archives on
https://foundry.supelec.fr/frs/?group_id=14 in such cases ;)

PS: I might be using slightly unstandard way of launching texmfstart,
but that approach seems to work up to the 20061120.

Foekepotterij, foekepotterij,
