Re: [NTG-context] lilypond newbie
So, after extensive testing (with support from Arthur) using the lilypond-module (as described) just doesn't work at all. What to do now? As it seems to be a question of several parts working / not working together, who feels responsible? [NTG-context] texexec message suppression.
for some time now I have been fussing over the volume of uneccessary (to me) informational messages spewed forth by texexec, in particular the long list of font scripts repeated sometimes 8 or 9 times. Since I don't even use most of these scripts I wonder why they show up on every pass of every compile. The --silent parameter to texexec should suppress some or all of these message, or so the manual says. But it doesn't. I get the same long list of messages, repeated over and over. Ideally I could suppress informational messages but keep the warning messages, per the traditional unix and 2 output routings for sysout and syserr. But texexec does not appear to make the distinction. Routing all output to /dev/null is a trick that I use sometimes, but if the run errors off then it just hangs with no message. Are there any clever workarounds I have missed? Is there a setting somewhere in my texlive instllation that I can tweak? Should I do surgery on texexec itself? My 2 cents Ideally I could suppress informational messages but keep the warning messages, per the traditional unix and 2 output routings for sysout and syserr. Why is it done this way? Isn't t-setup always supposed to be distributed with the sources. Why not simply \environment t-setup If a file is being used for only one project, it should be an environment file. If it will be used in multiple projects, it should be a module. Wolfgang, do you think that t-setup.tex can be added as x-set-13.tex, or maybe even overwrite x-set-11.tex? (I have not read it carefully to understand what are the enhancements that it provides). How is \doiffileelse supposed to search for files exactly? Try to open the file for reading. If the file can be read, then read the file, else do the else part. The check for file etc is done using TeX's \immediate\openin\scratchread \filename, so there is no searching for parent directories. The \project and \environment macros have to make some effort to read files in parent directories.
