Re: [NTG-context] question on the luaTeX installation

2008-04-27 Thread Dalyoung Jeong
Dear Thomas and Aditya,

Thank you for the reply.

TEXMFLOCAL, TEXMFDIST is the order in texmf.cnf. So the order
in .luatex is OK.

1. I changed '/usr/local/texlive/2007/../texmf-local' in the .luatex
file to '/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local'
%%%
echo $TEXMF
{/Users/dalyoung/.texlive2007/texmf-config,/Users/
dalyoung/.texlive2007/texmf-var,/Users/dalyoung/Library/texmf,/usr/
local/texlive/2007/texmf-config,/usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf-var,/usr/
local/texlive/2007/texmf,/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local,/usr/local/
texlive/2007/texmf-dist}
%%

2. 'luatools --generate'.
3. Then it locate the files in right positions.

$ luatools cont-new.tex
/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/context/base/cont-new.tex

And I succeeded to create the format file and a very simple test file
worked very well.
I don't know what is the difference between '/texlive/2007/../texmf-
local/' and '/texlive/texmf-local/'.

Thank you for your concern again.

Best regards,

Dalyoung Jeong

can you give us a example of the header do you want to get, tables are not
best solution and they will couse troubles in a few cases. We could try to
find a better solution if possible.

[NTG-context] Tables in headers

2008-04-27 Thread Stefan Larsson
First post on this list...

I have been using LaTeX for several large projects during the last 10 years
and just recently tried to switch to ConTeXt due to the claim of easier
handling of custom page layout. So far it is an enjoyable experience...

I would need to customize my page headers with a custom table (like
LaTeX's tabular environment) instead of just changing the text in the left
and right corners. From the quick browsing I have been doing of
documentation and articles at contextgarden this feature called "layers"
might be what I am looking for. But before trying to grasp this feature I
would like to ask any experienced ConTeXt user for the recommended approach
to achieve what I am trying to do...

So, to conclude: "How do I customize my page header to contain a table
instead of the predefined style?"

Thanks,
Stefan Larsson

Coming back to my old thread.

Here's my latest chapter setup:

the Brussels Declaration\\for German cultural politics]
\input tufte

My problem is now, that in titles the space after a dot and after \\
(or \nocr) gets eaten, the above example becomes in ToC:

B.Rüssel: Consequences of the Brussels Declarationfor German cultural
politics

What's wrong? (Two different problems, I guess.)

(I use XeTeX with latest ConTeXt)

For I must send my book to the printer, I fixed it with inserting "\
". But I'd appreciate a real solution.

texmf-dist was introduced for packager programs; normally when i get a
new tex live i happely merge texmfdist and texmf into one directory

texmf-local .. well, it seems that depending on the distribution the
order differs; originally it was for local updates and we use it as such
in the minimals

It's the default on TeX Live (hence in all distributions but MikTeX).
I think the rationale is that .../texmf contains (mostly)
configuration-related things (including texmf.cnf itself), contrary to
.../texmf-dist which contains the actual TeX files. In that respect
it's quite different from Pragma's minimals and the New Minimals, where
there is no texmf-dist.
