In fact, I have just checked that this options are not necessary. I forgot

accented letters are not printed properly in the properties of the document.
There is no problems with standard ConTeXt (MKII).

I updated ConTeXt, luatex binary and ConTeXt scripts manually, and it

What do you mean by manually? Do you mean unzipping the file

 Hans, Taco, can you see what is happening here?

That took some thinking. The error is caused by the \mathcode of µ,
it is 7116, but it should be 0116. The '7' in the current
definition makes it switch along with \fam. \dimensiontypeface
expands to \tf, so \fam is set to 11, and that is \rm.

So you end up with this minimal file:

\starttext
$\rm µ$ % that's U+03BC
\stoptext

The latin modern text (\rm) font does not have a greek alphabet.
If it did, all would have worked ok. Since that cannot easily be
fixed and I suspect most text fonts do not have greek, so changing
the mathcode of the greek characters is probably the best solution
(it affects normal math mode as well, as you can see)

And as an aside, it would be nicer to use U+00B5 (mu latin) in the
units module instead of U+03BC (mu greek).

   \def\Micro {\dimensionprefix{\iftextdimensions u\else\hbox{µ}\fi}}

The \hbox is needed because \fam11 is using ec encoding, I think.
(and that is problematic in its own way, but let's not go there)

Best wishes,
Taco

\os is kind of special because it's related to the fact that good old
tex and the cm fonts have oldstyles in some math font and therefore some

we might consider mapping \os to something

\def\os{\groupedcommand{\setfontfeature{oldstyle}}{}}

which in mkiv will make

1234567890 {\os 1234567890} 1234567890

for me it makes such features rather useless and i'll probably cook up

 If you still want to run ConTeXt on MikTeX while it has been removed,
 you may create a file texmfstart.bat in C:\Program Files\MiKTeX
 2.7\miktex\bin with the content:

 @echo off
 ruby C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.7\scripts\context\ruby\texmfstart.rb %*

 and extract www.pragma-ade.com/context/current/cont-tmf.zip
 http://www.pragma-ade.com/context/current/cont-tmf.zip into C:\Program
 Files\MiKTeX 2.7. Then, update filename database and generate formats,
 and everything should work again.

Hi David,

I had the same problem and now totaly switched from miktex to texlive.
Texlive has context in a new version in it and up to date a online
installer so that you only need about 2 MB for the first download and
the rest will come by launching the installer.
My advice would be to switch away from miktex to texlive it now has the
same onlineupdatefunktion as miktex.

Greetings

[NTG-context] Flow charts and comments

2008-09-20 Thread Aditya Mahajan
Hi,

Something seems to be wrong with placements of comments in flowcharts. For
exmaple, consider a short version of an example from the wiki.

\usemodule[chart]

\startFLOWchart

\startFLOWcell
\name{1}
\location{1,1}
\shape{44}
\connection[rl] {2}
\comment[t]{top}
\comment[b]{bottom}
\stopFLOWcell

\startFLOWcell
\name {2}
\location {2,1}
\text {Test}
\stopFLOWcell
\stopFLOWchart

\starttext

\FLOWchart

\stoptext

Top and bottom captions are not placed at all, both in mkiv and mkii.

Aditya

 The \hbox is needed because \fam11 is using ec encoding, I think.

Yes. This change to (mu latin) worked. Thank you so much for the
detailed explanations.
I think it is preferable to use upright greek letters in units.
The shape of (mu latin) in the latin modern font isn't the prettiest
design, but is still better than mixing italic mu with other upright
letters in units.
Besides, I guess, (mu latin) instead of u can be used in text-mode units?

I can confirm it is related to the frac featue.
The fonts in Acrobat Reader work ok.
However, Adobe FontFolio version appears to produce the problem.
Moreover, Adobe Brioso has the same problem.

Re: [NTG-context] XeTeX old style numerals

2008-09-20 Thread Yue Wang

 The problem is that that's only a dirty trick that is not supposed to
 work and might stop working in the future, so I would rather try not
 to rely on it. A better interface for XeTeX typescripts (something
 similar to fontspec) is missing heavily.

I prefer use opentype features than add some non-standard
definition like fontspec.
so I dont think fontspec do a good job.

You can always use
\definefontfeature
 [myfontfeatures]
 [script=latn,language=dflt,liga=yes,kern=yes,tlig=yes,onum=yes,
=yes, =yes]

\definefontsynonym[a font name][a physical font][features=myfontfeatures]

in LuaTeX and XeTeX.
