[NTG-context] Installing Minimals Fails

2008-09-24 Thread Erich R Fickel
I am having trouble installing the context minimals. I am using Linux
(Xandros 4.5, Debian Etch). During execution of first-setup.sh, I
receive the following year:

-
loading : Context Page Macros / Layout Specification
)
! I can't find file `page-log.tex'.
to be read again
   \relax
l.371 \loadcorefile{page-log.tex}

(Press Enter to retry, or Control-D to exit)
Please type another input file name:
-

I do hope someone can help. The minimals seem to be my only path to a
working Context that is not too old. None of the texlive-2007 packages
will install.

[NTG-context] french rules for punctuation

2008-09-24 Thread Olivier Guéry
Hello,

It seem's that there's some changes on the « frenchpunctuation front »
! Thank's.

I modified my test file and ad more precise rules to the wiki :
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/frenchpunctuation
I test it with luatex 0.29 and context 2008.09.21

* Strange bug : the space After the openning quote («) is twice bigger
than the one before the closing one (»). Look at test 3
* Wolfgang change the wiki about the compose word, but using this
(with the syntax compose||word) I get an endash (–) and not the normal
sign (-). Test 5
* There should't be space between two sign. Test 2
* The space before the footnote sign is too big (it's clearer with
othe fonts). Test 4

As usual, if you need more information, just ask !

Cheers,
Olivier.

[NTG-context] Strange spacing before \reference

2008-09-24 Thread Olivier Guéry
Hello,

I played with the cross references today…

\starttext
Here is a text
\reference[foo]{bar}
with reference in it. My \quote{goto} syntax point to him. It works
great but there's a big gap between « text » and « with », just where
y put the « reference » tag.
\stoptext

Am I using this the wrong way or is this a bug ?

Cheers,
Olivier.

That file seems to be missing in beta (renamed to page-log.mkii). Hans?

As a temporary remedy, try to edit first-setup.sh and change

Hans,

No need to run it yourself. It has to do with the interpretation/
assignements of the 'fit' options in:
\setupinteractionscreen

width=fit,

Replacing 'fit' by an explicit height seems to repair it. But I have
no idea why the behaviour of 'fit' suddenly changed.

The penalty and skip are needed because the \color generates

Thanks for checking. I'm running Win32 here and executed a simple

 texexec texmfstart --luatex test

I also tried it via the short

I updated contextminimals using first-setup.bat yesterday. Just did

sure everything is up-to-date, but to no effect (just the fmt
changed to today's date).

[NTG-context] page-log.tex

2008-09-24 Thread Wolfgang Werners-Lucchini
Hallo!

I tried to download and unzip context-setup-mswin.zip.

The wiki says 'Run first-setup.bat, go for a coffee.'

But thats not possible. I am six times asked for a replacement name
for 'page-log.tex' which does not exist. I gave him 'page-log.mkii'
and finally all goes ok.

 The penalty and skip are needed because the \color generates

I'd like to, but I can't. Tomorrow is the day for the thesis to get
lasered and processed by the bookbinder. :-)

Thanks for your support, I am lucky that I didn't use any of
MKⅣ-only features, just page breaking is a little different with
MKⅡ, so I will go with that for the last hours of the project.

[NTG-context] Descriptions ... I wish I understood them

2008-09-24 Thread Mojca Miklavec
Hello,

I have some weird problems with descriptions, but let's start at the
beginning. (I have more problems with understanding how they work, but
more about the rest later.)

1.) How do I get some space between title and abc? (I currently
put the space there manually.) If I set distance=1em, weird things
start happening.

2.) What exactly does hang=1 do? I have no idea what it does there,
but that was the only way to get the desired result, else everything
gets indented. width=fit makes problems. With width=5cm everything is
OK.

\definedescription
[ma]
[headstyle=bold,
 style=italic,
 align=left,
 location=left,
 width=fit,
 distance=0pt,
 margin=0pt,
 hang=1,
 indenting=never,
]
\starttext

\input tufte

\startma{title} abc. \input tufte
\stopma

\input tufte

\stoptext

Thanks a lot,

Seems to be the same issue as

I suggest to build luatex from trunk and delete the luatex-cache.

[NTG-context] Fun with Bibtex

2008-09-24 Thread Peter Daum
Hi all

I'm using Taco's Bibtex module and got some problems with it.

\setupbibtex[database=xx,sort=author]
\setuppublications[alternative=apa-de,refcommand=authoryear,monthconversion=month]
\placepublications[criterium=all]

... works fine. The references list contains only publications referenced in
the document.

Unfortunately, I was forced to use a special bst file, since I needed to change
the fields of the entrytype misc. As I didn't find a way to make ConTeXt or
texexec aware of this new file living in my document's directory, I deleted the
database parameter, customised the aux file and ran bibtex by myself.

The problem is, that, with the new method, only a very small subset of the
referenced publication makes it into the list. If I add criterium=all to the
setuppublications command, I get the whole database, whether the pub is
referenced or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks and regards
Peter

I cannot say anything about the specific problem you had, but are you
sure that the high level interface of bib module does not allow you to
do what you need without touching bst files?

If you are playing with bst files you probably know what you are
doing, but maybe you can provide a bit more details. Not everything
can be done with high lever interface, but so far I never had to touch
bst, yet I keep configuring lots of things.

(OTOH ... I just figured out today that comments are not ignored in
bib entries [any more], so I get percentage signs and unuseful text
all over the place ... I really need to switch back to Word ASAP.)

[NTG-context] Bibliography: comments not ignored any more

2008-09-24 Thread Mojca Miklavec
Hello (Taco),

I have no idea when this turned into a problem (the files that I'm
recycling are 2 years old, so it must have worked at that time), but
percentage sign seems to have lost its original meaning inside
publication:

\usemodule [bib]
\startpublication[k=mybook,t=book,a=Last Name]
\author{First Name}[F.~N.]{}{Last Name}
\title{Title}
% \pubyear{2007}
% This should have been a comment
\stoppublication

\starttext
\nocite[mybook]
\placepublications[criterium=all]
\stoptext

I have put comments out of the definitions now, so it's not critical
for me, but it might cause problems to others as well.
