The wiki suggests to make a macro: \def\onlinecite#1{\cite[left=,right=][#1]} for inline citations. However it says you can use this macro with: \onlinecite[myRef] It works for me with: \onlinecite{myRef} But not with \onlinecite[myRef] for in that case it produces: Xx, myRef]
