[NTG-context] Stable broken, beta works

2009-03-25 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm

Thank you, Patrick, for bringing the garden (back) to live!
Thank you, Mojca et.al., who fixed the latest LuaTeX issues!

But I'm still not happy...

With --context=current I get lots of warnings:

Warning: support for multiple lua states has been dropped.
Please stop using a number after \directlua and \latelua.

Warning: The 'fontforge' table has been renamed to 'fontloader'.
Please update your source file(s) accordingly.

And, worse, OTF handling seems broken:

I absolutely agree with Bruce on this point :-)

And I strongly disagree. A repository of that kind would be a great
idea, but at least one column in the table (price, or just free: Y/N)
would be very useful - especially for people like me, who cannot afford
expensive commercial fonts.

And note that the distinction is *not* between free and
professional, but rather free and commercial. Aren't LM or TeX
Gyre professional;)?

Hmm, but when I ran the script this morning, it compiled a lot of binaries
and tried to commit the new files; it got stuck somewhere in the svn
 commit.

Apparently you did indeed commit yesterday at 13:12, according to the
log. Thanks for your efforts :-)

Hmm, it's broken on your computer, but it's working (with one
exception) on mine. You're still using 10.4, right? Maybe we should
use binaries compiled on 10.4, if they are upwards compatible with
10.5. Mojca, Arthur?

Sorry again, I should really test before I post :-(

Running mtx-update (--context=beta) I get:

./bin/mtx-update.lua:432: attempt to index global 'statistics' (a nil value)

same on line 509. commented those lines, update seems to work (with my binary).

But when I try to make formats I get:

dyld: Symbol not found: _close$UNIX2003
  Referenced from: /usr/local/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-osx-ppc/bin/texlua
  Expected in: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

So I must replace the binaries in texmf-osx-ppc/bin... Ok

I can generate formats for pdfTeX and XeTeX without problems.

luatools --generate
 (seems ok)

context --make
stops with:

Have you tried mtxrun --selfupdate ? I know I got this error about a

I use latest beta, mkiv.

[NTG-context] MetaPost graphics with TRT direction

2009-03-25 Thread Khaled Hosny
MPost graphics inside TRT direction are placed incorrectly overlapping
the text on the right, similar to what we had with \pdfximage (see the
attached PDF).

This seems to be unrelated to images issue since MPost graphics are
inserted as \pdfliteral. I'm not sure if this an engine or macro issue,
but I'm guessing the later.

Changing the \startMPLIBtoPDF so that the \hbox where the graphics is
placed is fixed to TLT direction fixes this, but I'm not sure if it is
safe to do so.

 Khaled

[NTG-context] medium constant is missed

I'm using latest beta, mkiv.

\setupinterlinespace[medium] fails, but \setupinterlinespace[1.25]
works. Bug?

Yes, typo in one of Hans new optomized mkiv code, change this in syst-
aux.tex

Sorry, but this is the wrong macro, wait for Hans.

Re: [NTG-context] Stable broken, beta works

Hmm, it's broken on your computer, but it's working (with one exception) on
mine. You're still using 10.4, right? Maybe we should use binaries compiled
on 10.4, if they are upwards compatible with 10.5. Mojca, Arthur?

Dear Macies,

The answer to the first question: yes, I'm almost sure that current is
broken since it needs an older version of LuaTeX, but it's kind of
hard to keep up with Hans, esp. because the scripts need to be
rewritten if we want to support multiple LuaTeX versions, but then
there's still a problem: what LuaTeX version with what version of
ConTeXt? (I do plan to fix it, but I'm in chronical lack of time until
summer if I want to finish 33 15-pages reports and thesis in TeX
without getting distracted by the issues encountered while writing
them. But I'll do my best to fix the most urgent issues.)

Concerning the Mac PPC problem: I committed luatex 0.35 some time ago.
When 0.36 came out I had some temporary problems, so Arthur commited
his binaries that apparently didn't work. Thomas then re-submitted
luatex 0.36 and other binaries.

I cannot help with mac binaries at the moment since my computer is
being repaired. And after I get it back I'll probably replace hard
drive and install Leopard. (The system doesn't boot any more, so I
won't be able to work on Mac OS X before I install everything from
scratch, so please do not expect any Mac support from me until end of
next week.) I''ll try to figure out how to compile in
backward-compatibility mode. If we managed to cross-compile for PPC, I
hope that cross-compiling for 10.4 will be possible as well.

All I can do at the moment is to revert back to LuaTeX 0.35. If that
is what you want, please let me know. Else, if your self-compiled
binary works for you, please send it to Thomas and let him try it out
and commit it to the repository.

Right, but we need to find someone on 10.4 that's willing to
contribute. The binaries used to be compiled on 10.4 until now, so
obviously they are forward-compatible.

... Or someone needs to hack the building scripts a tiny bit. They are
already hached to generate ppc binaries, so maybe one only needs to
add a tiny command that triggers 10.4-compatibility.

[NTG-context] synonym sorting used to work, but now doesn't

2009-03-25 Thread Michael Bynum
I started using the newest version of texlive and now, the behavior
for my synonym lists has changed. With the command
\synonym[.1.]{.2.}{.3.}, I thought that the sorting used to be based
on [.1.] but now it seems that the sorting is based on {.2.}. This is
undesireable, because I cannot seperate my alphabetic synonyms from my
greek synonyms. Here is a sample of what is happening.

\definesynonyms[nomenclature][nomenclatures][\infull]
\setupsynonyms[nomenclature][criterium=all,width=0.85in]

\placelistofnomenclatures

\nomenclature[b]{ytest}{This should be second}

Re: [NTG-context] typescript repository

2009-03-25 Thread Wolfgang Schuster

Hi,

the repository [1] has now a few typescripts from me but it would
be nice if other people can contribute more files for other fonts.

Another thing I need is a license for the files because I need
one for CTAN submission and TeXLive inclusion.
