Hi,

The following example from the manual does not work for me in MKIV
(2009.06.14 21:01):

\starttext
\setuphead[subsection][ownnumber=yes]
\subsection{399}{The old number}
\subsection[someref]{400}{Another number}
\stoptext

PDF attached.

Cheers,
Tim

Structuring has changed significantly in mkiv and many examples from mkii are
handled differently (structure sets). Unfortunately, I have yet to figure it
out
as the documentation is behind and the little information that I have gathered
from this mailing list is too incomplete. What is missing is some basic
information on the new approach to structuring.

Re: [NTG-context] On creating my own fonts

2009-06-22 Thread Piotr Kopszak
1) draw by hand some glyphs, so you have an objective piece of paper of what
 you want
 2) search on Internet for a font that looks like what you (think) to want
 3) starting from this font, make some modifications of glyphs that you
 have drawn
 with fontforge or metapost
 With fontforge, you can even make countours from images , and with a bit
 of hack from MetaFont too.

Don't forget about other sources of inspiration. Frederic Goudy for instance
made illicite rubbings in Louvre and studied Roman inscriptions on columns
and other monuments, as many others did :)

Best of luck!

  You can do virtually every thing, I use FontForge mainly for Arabic
  fonts.

 Can I ask you what you use to create arabic fonts? They always
 have a beatifull caligraphic style, are they usually done with
 tools like metafont or you just draw then on the screen?

I usually draw the glyphs on the screen (or trace scanned paper),
however there were Arabic MetaFont fonts (ArabTeX's naskh and another
one by Yannis Haralambous) but both were of low artistic quality.

 Khaled

[NTG-context] Problem on switching typefaces

2009-06-22 Thread Maurício

In the example below, all text printed on body font
is okay. However, the text inside braces disapears.
Problem seems not to be with specific typeface, as
'chorus' shows properly when used as body font. Also,
changing chorus for others (palatino, chermes, schola,
pagella etc.) do not solve the problem.

What do you think I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Maurício

%%%

\usetypescriptfile[type-gentium]
\usetypescript[gentium]
\usetypescript[chorus]
\setupbodyfont[gentium,22pt]

\starttext

Text on body font.

{
\switchtotypeface[chorus][rm]

Text on special typeface.

}

More body font text.

\stoptext
