The guide was for modules only and there are not so many which needs
fonts to work,
for fonts separate instructions are better when you want to mention
also type 1 fonts,

tfm and map files etc.

Re: [NTG-context] simplefonts?

2009-07-04 Thread Andrea Valle

When you mean American Typewriter, Futura, Optima etc. you're wrong
because they are saved in .dfont format which can't be used from
LuaTeX

but you can create normal ttf fonts with the program fondu.

Thanks Wolfgang, yes, I meant that.
Well, I looked at the info and kind was True Type. Didn't know
that the type can be packed in a dfont format.
I can see from location that most of system fonts are dfont, other
are ttf.
But sometimes there's no indication, e.g. Library/Fonts/Bradley Hand
ITC TT-Bold.

How can I understand the format

Thanks
Best

ok, but in mkiv type1's use afm/pfb only, no more map and tfm (the type1
is turned into wide font internally so one has all chars)

Is it possible the reverse runtime ?
I mean, given an opentype that wrap a type1-like font and given an encoding,

make a pdf with that type1 font and encoding
