[NTG-context] Font Path Problem.

2009-07-05 Thread Stirling Westrup
I am running Debian amd64 (a mixed version system) and recently
installed context. I am trying to get mkiv working, and so far it
mostly is. The one problem I've run into is that I can't get it to
recognize the extra truetype fonts I have in /usr/local/share/fonts.
It only seems to see the ones that came with the installation.

I've followed the various installation and setup documents as best I
could but so far haven't had any luck. Here's a hopefully meaningful
transcript below:

$ env | grep -i "tex\|fontdir"

I understand and I do agree, basically.
However, any (and all) differences need to be clearly documented.
I know that you are working on this. Perhaps we need to put together
a mkii->mkiv changes summary document, from the users point of view
updating http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Mark_IV (or Mark_IV_differences).

I am aware of a few differences, but am far from having a complete view.

Yes, please provide an example. I too have tried different blind guesses
and have not succeeded either.

Yep, sorry.
Solved again the Suitcase problem with Fondu. Evidently my first test
was with a "strange" font raising some errors.

Ah, thanks a lot to all the devs for the new luatex facilities for
fonts.

Thanks Wolfgang, yes, I meant that.
Well, I looked at the info and "kind" was "True Type". Didn't know
that the type can be packed in a dfont format.
I can see from "location" that most of system fonts are dfont, other
are ttf.
But sometimes there's no indication, e.g. Library/Fonts/Bradley Hand
ITC TT-Bold.

How can I understand the format

Ok, I reformulate more clearly:
Is there a way to manage "Font Suitcase" on macosx so to use them with
Luatex?

Thanks
