I'm far from an expert in this realm, but since you asked what *I* 
want... :)


My intention is to associate status.filename and status.linenumber 
together.  That is, I would read and save their values consecutively in 
the same Lua function so that they would refer to the ConTeXt source 
line currently being processed by the ConTeXt engine.


Now you say that ConTeXt may not be reading from a file at that level. 
That I can accept (being a non-expert), but status.linenumber always 
returns the correct line number for the ConTeXt file being processed 
(even if the file is being \input from another file).  It seems to me 
that if the line number within the source file is accurate, then the 
file's name should be accurate, too.

[NTG-context] Simple Newbie Question.

I'm hoping the answer to this question should be obvious, but I'm
having no luck with it.

I'm trying to do a layout for a 1-page datasheet. At the very bottom
of the page, in some tiny font, I need to put a copyright notice and
datasheet ID number.

Ideally I'd like to define some fixed text block containing the text
(as its exact size and font have not yet been finalized), and then
somehow define the height of the footer to be exactly equal to the
height of the text block. Once I've done that, I need to place the
text in the footer.

I've been going back and forth through the scattered bits of ConTeXt
manual and the wiki, but I'm having no luck in figuring out how one
might do this.

You can fix it manually from Taco's post or you can use
--context=experimental, but then you need to compile LuaTeX by
yourself.

Hans' version of ConTeXt doesn't work with current LuaTeX beta, so
updating is not possible before next LuaTeX is released.

Well, maybe someone comes up with a solution one day. It would be nice
to have a complete Photoshop-less production environment on linux.
BTW, can tif support spot colors at all, I haven't found any mention
of that anywhere, hence I don't think libtiff might be of use.

   mtxrun --run vim full:2context.vim

inside a context run you can use

  resolvers.resolve("full:2context.vim")

or just resolvers.find_file("2context.vim","other text file")

so using:

  \ctxlua{os.execute("")}

should be doable


Thanks, this seems to work as expected. I will work on a new version that 
will use resolvers.resolve in MkIV, and the old method in MkII.

as it is possible to colorize bw bitmap images in context i suppose that 
doing the same with a dual channel image is doable as well but i never 
tried is (low on my list of priorities so you're unlicky that we never 
needed that variant in projects)

[NTG-context] pretty C with MKIV

Hello,

Unfortunately, I've no time (and perhaps also not the know-how) to write
a pret-c.lua. What would be the easiest way, to do C pretty printing?
(I've tried t-vim.tex, but it seems to be broken:
ERROR: I can't find file `test-vimsyntax.tmp-vimsyntax.tmp'.)

TIA for any help!

There is a bug in the mathematics.make_font commands in math-vfu.lua:
They should not be using: euf[mb][689].tfm as those result in a pk
bitmap font inclusion attempt. Updated version attached.
