It seems that the (wrong?) use of \starbuffer in a macro is the
cause of the error: ! File ended while scanning use of

Can someone provide a correction?

1. This \doifelsesamelinereference macro in page-lin.mkiv should be
changed to:

\def\doifelsesamelinereference#1#2#3%
  {\doifreferencefoundelse{lr:b:#1}
 {\edef\fline{\currentreferencedefault}% was \currentreferencetext

2. You can't hide start/stopbuffer.

Before I help you provide us with more information, e.g. should the
text in the buffer

appear also in the complete text or do you it only in the snippet?

[NTG-context] index entries inside footnotes

2009-10-18 Thread Thomas A. Schmitz

Hi all,

for the book project I'm typesetting, I need two indexes. I discovered
that there is a slight problem with index entries in footnotes in
mkiv. Here's a minimal example:

\starttext

Cats\index{cats} \index{cats}and \footnote[1]{dogs\index{dogs} and}
more \index{dogs}dogs.

\placeregister[index]

\stoptext

This gives the expected result in mkii; in mkiv, a spurious comma is
added in front of the entry dogs, which occurs inside a footnote.
(btw, ideally I would like the index to have 1 n. 1 - can this be
achieved?)

All best

Thomas

[NTG-context] framed and footnotes

2009-10-18 Thread Wolfgang Murth

Hi,

I tried to put a footnote in a framed box, but the text of the footnote is not
shown. Is that normal?
Below you find a minimal sample of what I tried. I'm using mkiv 2009.10.02.

%=

\definecolor [caution] [r=1, g=.78, b=.62]
\def\cautionbox#1{
\framed[background=color,backgroundcolor=caution,framecolor=red,align=normal,width=\textwidth]{#1}}

\startbuffer
\input tufte
\stopbuffer

\starttext

\cautionbox{\getbuffer}

\cautionbox{\getbuffer\footnote{And now a little footnote} \par\getbuffer}

But as the text continues\footnote{And now a BIG footnote}.
\stoptext
%=

Best regards

Wolfgang Murth

donno exactly in which version of the pdf language object compression
was introduced (1.4-1.5?). you can try to set

\pdfminorversion 4 % default is currently 5

in your test document and only features of pdf 1.4 are used (pdf version

[NTG-context] Simplest slides

2009-10-18 Thread Guilherme P. de Freitas
Hi everybody,

I would like to be able to make very simple slides with ConTeXt, and I
need a template. I would be very grateful if someone could point me to
one. Think Apple's Keynotes or Lawrence Lessig's presentations. Plain
background, not too much stuff on the slides whenever possible. If you
need a more concrete example, here it is:

http://archive.gpfreitas.net/work/seminars/en/sisl/turingt-pres.pdf

It's just that I am experimenting with taking notes while I read a
paper, and make a presentation direct from the notes. For that, using
my favorite text editor is a lot better than using Apple's Keynote
(which is otherwise very nice).

Thanks,

Guilherme

[NTG-context] first-setup mtxrun error on Intel Mac

2009-10-18 Thread Michail Vidiassov

Dear All,

I run Mac OS X 10.6 (Intel)
running first-setup.sh (in empty dir, if that matters)
results in
/Users/master/context.new/bin/mtxrun:5416: attempt to index global 'tex' (a nil
value)

Any ideas?

  Sincerely, Michail
