[NTG-context] cow symbols don't work in MkIV

2010-09-18 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm
This works in MkII, but not MkIV. Other symbol sets like mvs work
(even with a list of error messages).

\starttext

\usesymbols[cow]
\setupsymbolset[cownormal]

\startTEXpage[align={middle,middle},width=210mm,height=297mm]

\dontleavehmode\scale[width=\textwidth]{\symbol[CowConTeXt]}

Cowboy Coder

\stopTEXpage

\stoptext

Under MkIV I managed to get my hands on the Cows (text) font via
\definedfont[Cows at 30mm], but not on CowLogos.

 I am still interested in changing the name of the font...not to

 before Type1 font names). Then, I can blame the font naming on a
 software limitation ;)

Output an uncompressed PDF, open in a text editor, search for the font
name and replace it, but you will need to fix xref after that (no idea
what xref is, but pdclean from mupdf fixs it)

[NTG-context] \centercolon and friends with PX-fonts

Hi all,

because \left(…\right) and \sqrt{…} is broken with OpenType math fonts I had to
switch to the PX-fonts but there the colon is eaten if one uses the

[NTG-context] Strange optical scaling

2010-09-18 Thread Florian Wobbe
Dear all,

I was about to adapt the type-optical module to include Semibold and Condensed
when I noticed that optical scaling is not working as expected. To be more
precise only downscaling works. Let me give you a short example of what I did:

\usemodule[type-optical]
\usetypescript[minion]
\setupbodyfont[minion,12pt]
\starttext
\title{Title}
\section{Section}
Text
\tfxx tfxx
\tfx tfx
\tfa tfa
\tfb tfb
\tfc tfc
\tfd tfd
\stoptext

This document is composed of various font sizes: \tfxx to \tfd scale to 7.2,
9.6, 14.4, 17.28, 20.736, and 24.888pt. According to the definitions in
type-optical \tfxx should be set in MinionPro-Capt, \tfx and \tf in
MinionPro-Regular, \tfa and \tfb in Subhead and the rest is Display size.
Looking at the resulting PDF file with pdffonts indicates that
MinionPro-Regular and MinionPro-Capt are the only fonts used. Not so Subhead or
Display sizes.

Changing the bodyfont to [minion,14pt] results in MinionPro-Subh and
MinionPro-Regular to be included.

I was curious and tried the same thing with Latin Modern:

\setupbodyfont[8pt]
\starttext
\title{Title}
\section{Section}
Text
\tfa tfa
\tfb tfa
\tfc tfa
\tfd tfa
\stoptext

Same problem: Only LMRoman8-Regular is used.

By including the lines

\tfxx tfxx
\tfx tfx

LMRoman5-Regular and LMRoman6-Regular are included in the PDF. Again not the
larger sizes.

I'm quite puzzled about this strange behaviour and would apreciate any help.

Best
Florian

PS.: I'm running Tex Live 2010 (MacTex) with a recent update from
rsync://contextgarden.net/minimals/current/.

Dear Mojca,

Here is the sequence that I used:

cd context

curl -o first-setup.sh http://minimals.contextgarden.net/setup/first-setup.sh

sh ./first-setup.sh

source ./tex/setuptex

cd
echo '. ~/context/tex/setuptex'  .bash_profile

luatools --generate

context --make

sh ./first-setup.sh --extras=all

In TeXShop I then run a one page file called Purser.tex . The console readout
gives me:

Here's a total shot in the dark (I don't use OS X anymore):

Last time that I used TeXShop, it had an engine file in the library
folder that I sometimes had to modify if ConTeXt changed the commands
available for use.

[NTG-context] How to hide or remove chapter e section number in subsection head and in TOC subsection head?

2010-09-18 Thread Aldo Lazich
Hi to all.

I don't want:

8.3.2 Subsection title
8.3.2 Subsebtion title.page no% in TOC

but I wish:
2 Subsebtion title
2 Subsebtion title.page no   %  in TOC

here my code (ConTeXt ver: 2010.09.09 23:45 MKIV fmt: 2010.9.12):
--8
% chapter - capo
% section - sezione
% subsection -- articolo

\definehead[capo][chapter]
\setuphead
  [capo]
  [alternative=middle,ownnumber=yes]  % yes, I need ownnumber=yes

\definehead[sezione][section]
\setuphead
  [sezione]
  [alternative=middle,ownnumber=yes]

\definehead[articolo][subsection]
\setuphead
  [articolo]
  [alternative=middle,ownnumber=yes]

\starttext

\placelist[capo,sezione,articolo][alternative=c]

\capo{CAPO I}{TITLE CAPO I}
\sezione{Sezione 1}{Title Sezione 1}
\articolo{Art. 1}{Title Art. 1}
text text text text

\articolo{Art. 2}{Title Art. 2}
text text text text
\capo{CAPO II}{TITLE CAPO II}
\sezione{Sezione 2}{Title Sezione 2}
\articolo{Art. 3}{text Art. n.3}

About indipendent section numbering, code in
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Chapters_headers#Chapter_headers; seems don't
work

Thanks

[NTG-context] \setupcombinedlist ignores `level' argument?

2010-09-18 Thread Corsair
Hi all,

If I understand this right, \setupcombinedlist[content][level=section]
tells ConTeXt to list up to section level when doing \completecontent.
But it seems no matter what I set for `level', \completecontent lists
however deeply it can. Here is a minimal example:

\setupcombinedlist[content][level=section]

\starttext
\completecontent
\chapter{Level 0}
\section{Level 1}
\subsection{Level 2}
\subsubsection{Level 3}
\subsubsubsection{Level 4}
\subsubsubsubsection{Level 5}
\stoptext

Is this a bug, or I did something wrong?
