Your context is too old. When you use the minimals you can install the module
with “first-setup.sh --extras=t-annotation”.

I put a new version on bitbucket where you can now write

\startmyquotation[title={Ward}]
\input ward
\stopmyquotation

Since this worked nicely on a simple "hello world" example, I thought I'm
trying it out on a few documents I have.

The logs are attached, do I need to make a minimal out of it?

Did you try and run

mtxrun --generate

manually? If this doesn't help: last week, I encountered a
similar problem on linux-ppc. I was completely baffled
because mtxrun always reported that it couldn't find
anything. In the end, I discovered that the luatex binary
was missing the execute bit. So check this as well.

Definitely looks like a bug in italic correction. In principle, the
spacing with virtual fonts (mkiv) should be the same as type 1 fonts (mkii).

Thanks for clarification.

Just curious: is this ConTeXt or LuaTeX bug?

I am guessing that this is a context bug in creating a virtual font or
loading a virtual font. But I don't know how to debug this.

Hans and Taco, do you have any idea? Why is the inter-letter spacing
different in MkII and MkIV.

Try regenerating the filename database:

[NTG-context] Latest beta not working.

2011-05-06 Thread Bart Wise
If I run "context" with no arguments, I get the following output (and
nothing else):

mtxrun  | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua'

The file, mtx-context.lua does exis:

/home/bwise/context/20110505-beta-extras/tex/texmf-context/scripts/context/lua/mtx-context.lua

If I do an strace, it's looking for the following:

26155 open("./context.lua", O_RDONLY)   = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
26155
open("/home/bwise/context/20110505-beta-extras/tex/texmf-linux-64/bin/mtx-context.lua",
O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
26155 stat("mtx-context.lua", 0x7fffcf962660) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
26155 stat("mtx-context.lua", 0x7fffcf962660) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
26155
open("/home/bwise/context/20110505-beta-extras/tex/texmf-linux-64/bin/mtx-context.lua",
O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
26155 stat("context.lua", 0x7fffcf962660) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
26155 stat("context.lua", 0x7fffcf962660) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)

So it's looking for the mtx-context.lua file in the
path: tex/texmf-linux-64/bin/mtx-context.lua
And it's really located in the
path: tex/texmf-context/scripts/context/lua/mtx-context.lua

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Bart

[NTG-context] Some Ethiopic examples (hyphenation/breaking) in ConTeXt

2011-05-06 Thread Mojca Miklavec
Dear Hans,

We were originally preparing the example for XeTeX (which behaves very
weird anyway) and I would like to know how to typeset Ethiopic text in
ConTeXt.

The basic requirements are:

- Words may be split after any character (character = syllable; it's
in the range "1200-"139F), but not before word/sentence dividers. (We
have hyphenation patterns, but one could just as well use some other
mechanism to break.)

- "1361 and "1362 are word dividers and sentence dividers.

- One doesn't use spaces when writing.

- In output one should get something like space (approximately the
same width) before and something like space after word/sentence
divider, except that the "space" before divider should not be
breakable; I highly suspect that the amount of space before/after
dividers depends on the font being used, but I may be wrong.
- Text should be nicely justified (I wonder if microtypography would also help).

I'm attaching a sample text that does approximately what I expect it
to do, but I would like to avoid active characters, make the space
before and after divider of equal size and I'm not sure what is the
most appropriate approach in ConTeXt. The example also leaves a bit
too much whitespace after dividers that end the line.

Here's the font used in the example:
   http://scripts.sil.org/AbyssinicaSIL_Download

Thanks a lot,
Mojca

PS: In char-def.lua see

 [0x1361]={
  category="po",
  description="ETHIOPIC WORDSPACE",
  direction="l",
  linebreak="ba",
  unicodeslot=0x1361,
 },

where linebreak="ba" means "break after" or "allow break after this
character". But I guess that ConTeXt ignores those meanings at the
moment.

There are several possibilities, GTK+ is well documented,
ported to many platforms and operating systems (However,
maybe not to all, ConTeXt supports) and has Lua bindings.

Looks like context needs a package manager.

Do you have any suggestion how it should look like and how it should
work? mtx-update is kind-of package manager, but I admit that I miss
some GUI (but then again I have no idea how to write a portable GUI).

Similar to ruby gems or perl cpan or even texlive tlmgr. Ideally, a user
should be able to do:

package-manager search "keyword"

and get a list of modules and

package-manager install "modulename"

and be able to install the module (without updating the whole
installation). Additional niceties like

package-manager make "module"

for preparing a zip file that can be uploaded to contextgarden will be
nice.

ctxtools does provide the last functionality, but you need a tpm file for
that, while tlcontrib wants a module to be submitted without a tpm file.

[NTG-context] “deo” patterns?

Hey all,

the “deo” hyphenation does not appear to be accessible anymore.

··8<·

%\mainlanguage [deo] % neither of
\language [deo] % these two works

\starttext
Fluß, Guß, Stuß.
\stoptext

··8<·

Which makes context throw a “! Conflicting pattern ignored.”
error over here.

Did something change? If so, this should be reflected on the

[NTG-context] How to create a breakable text box inside math equation?

2011-05-06 Thread Mojca Miklavec
Hello,

This is probably a very trivial question, but I'm not sure how TeX
works in that respect. I'm used to use a macro
   \def\unit#1{{\rm\ #1}
in constructs such as $1\unit{cm^2} \times 2\unit{cm}$. However I
figured out that the contents of \unit{} cannot be broken accross
lines, most probably because this becomes an hbox.

Is there any simple workaround?

Thanks a lot,

I'll fix it. You can set an xhtml file as well as some css.

\setupbackend[export=yes]
\setupbackend[export=yes,xhtml=yes]
\setupbackend[export=yes,xhtml=whatever.xhtml]
\setupbackend[export=yes,css={whatever.css,somemore.css}]

Ah, thanks.

So, you can have dual output: pdf and xhtml. Normally the xml + css will do
but if you also want interactivity then you need the xhtml option (adds some
'a' wrappers). I will also add an epub option for producing those epub zip
files.

That will be great.

I can send you an example (cld-mkvi) if needed that shows an example of css
hooked into such output. That manual starts with:

\setupbackend
 [export=cld-mkiv-export.xml,
  xhtml=cld-mkiv-export.xhtml,
  css={cld-mkiv-export.css,mathml.css}]

Please do send the example.

There's an article in the eurotex proceedings about these issues. I don't
know if Mojca has put the presentation somewhere online.

I'll try to find that.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, I looked at back-exp.mkiv and it appears that xhtml export is

[NTG-context] header for indented text / blockquote

2011-05-06 Thread R. Ermers
Dear All,

In my docbook xml document I have fragments that I want to typeset indented.
For this I use the tag which I map to startnarrower and
stopnarrower.

Some blockquotes in my document have a header:

How a cow catches a rabbit
Text Text

I was wondering if the header could be setup just like sections and section
headers in the following way:

\startnarrower[title={title}, reference=reference]

Perhaps I need to create a new environment (blockquote) with these qualities?

The title and the reference to the section (and subsections) can now easily be
matched to lpath variables (much easier than when \section in fact refers to
the section title).

Another question related to this is how to can typeset the text of the
blockquote in two columns, while its header is typeset over the full page.

Kind regards,

Robert
