 Yes, two-way coupling for footnotes works (though as you say, it goes

 when setting up a section head you can say

 interaction=list

Hi,

did the beta just switch to DOS lineendings?

If yes, will it stay that way?

It’s a bug. Below is a example from Hans new fonts manual, when both sentences
are
in the same line the slant value for the second sentence is ignored but when
you uncomment
the \par and the second sentence uses the right value.

\starttext

\definefontfeature
  [abitslanted]
  [default]
  [slant=.1]

\definefontfeature
  [abitmoreslanted]
  [default]
  [slant=.4]

\definedfont[Normal*abitslanted]This is a bit slanted. %\par
\definedfont[Normal*abitmoreslanted]And this is a bit more slanted.

\stoptext

maybe .. i just wanted to make sure that some binary code was kept as-is
.. the lineendings were always cr+lf but i zipped the archive with -ll
(which is not present in all zippers anyway) .. when I switch to 7zip
crlf will quite certainly stay

the main reason for removing the cr was always that i was told that it
was an issue in tetex but that's probably no longer the case

do the answer is: yet unknown (and imo any text editor should be able to
deal with it anyway)
