[NTG-context] unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua

2014-02-27 Thread Tim Li
Hi guys,

I haven't played with ConTeXt for three month because of my examinations.
Today, I delete the old version and reinstall a new one from the ConTeXt
garden, but it seems that the new one can't run successfully. It says that

[NTG-context] Strange behaviour with columnar itemized text

2014-02-27 Thread Thangalin
Hi,

I encountered two issues where itemized text within columns behaves
unexpectedly. There appear to be two issues, possibly related. I will
provide the shorter example first, which produces overlapping text on
the second page (http://i.imgur.com/zMW6yk4.png).

Changing \blank[.2em] to \blank[small] resolves the first issue.
Removing inbetween={\blank[small]}, resolves the second issue. Given
that changing the \blank command affects the results, I think they
might be related somehow.

I'm not concerned about the first issue -- changing ".25em" to "small"
is fine. The second issue, however, leaves me perplexed for a solution
to avoid the issue while maintaining the desired vertical whitespace
(see (http://i.imgur.com/n46zEhf.png) between items. Any suggestions?

Hopefully these are sufficiently minimal examples.

Don’t load the \units module when you use the new \unit command, you can only
use one
mechanism because both aren’t compatible.

It’s better to add the space with the textcommand key.

\setupnote[footnote][textcommand={\hairspace\high}]
%\setupnote[footnote][textcommand={\thinspace\high}]

When you use the old units module you have to insert a control space with “\ ”,
e.g.

\usemodule[units]

\starttext
6000  \Unit \Kilo \Meter \ or 2000  \Unit \Kilo \Meter.
\stoptext

but when you use MkIV you can use the predefined \unit command:

\starttext
\unit{6000 kilometer} or \unit{2000 kilo meter}
\stoptext

[NTG-context] Footnote mark gap

2014-02-27 Thread Jan Tosovsky
Dear All,

when footnotes are placed after certain accented characters, the
corresponding footnote marks are rendered too close to them:

\starttext
í\footnote{í}
T\footnote{T}
ľ\footnote{ľ}
ě\footnote{ě}
ď\footnote{ď}
\stoptext

Is there any option for making this distance a bit larger?

On the other hand this gap may produce too much white space when placed
after characters like period or comma...

Ideally it could be positioned 'optically' ;-)

hi,

i ended up using a very flexible (open source, LUA scriptable by option)

podofoimpose (http://podofo.sourceforge.net/tools.html)

it's just an additional step to get my output done (as my ConTeXt files
are generated by a ruby script) ...

Do you need interaction (hyperref in latex-speak) to work? If not, one
possibility is the following.

You anyways have to do manual page-breaking because your sheets are of
different size. Create a PDF with two A6 pages followed by an A5 page
(and repeat).

Use a separate CLD (Context lua document) for arranging. Once you know
the number of pages of the pdf (you can get this in lua as well as in
tex), you can simple use something like (pseudo code)

for i = 1, no_of_page, 3 do
  context.setlayer( {"page"}, {x = "0", y = "0" }, {
"\\externalfigure[file][page=i]" })
  context.setlayer( {"page"}, {x = "0", y = "0.5\\textheight" }, {
"\\externalfigure[file][page=i+1]" })
context.setlayer( {"page"}, {x = "0.5\\textwidth", y = "0" }, {
"\\externalfigure[file][page=i+2]" })

end

Re: [NTG-context] starttexdefinition error in standalone, works in TL2013

Sorry for the not-so-minimal example with the obvious errors around the
setup. Here is a stripped version that shows the problem:

   % macros=mkvi

   \let\EndTranslation\relax

   % The following should work, but fails with current beta
   \starttexdefinition Trans #TRANSLATION\EndTranslation
  #TRANSLATION
   \stoptexdefinition

   % This version works with both TexLive and current standalone beta
   \def\Translation#TRANSLATION\EndTranslation%
   {#TRANSLATION%
   }

   \starttext

   Translation using \tex{def}{\tex{doTranslation}} works both with
   TL2013 and current beta.

   \Translation
  It betrays a slow-witted mentality to pursue the streams, but not
   to see the sources of things.
   \EndTranslation

   \blank

   Translation using \tex{starttexdef doTrans} fails with current beta.

   \Trans
  It betrays a slow-witted mentality to pursue the streams, but not
   to see the sources of things.
   \EndTranslation

   \stoptext

Re: [NTG-context] different page sizes on one sheet

2014-02-27 Thread amerke

hi rudolf (& list),

thank you for your 'quick hack', it's ok for my current solution. page
number, margins and background and stuff like grid alignment are still a
problem ...

but, i suppose, there must be :-) a tiny piece of code in ConTeXt, where
the rotation of the whole page can be achieved (but still treating the
page as a landscape page for the above setup arranging layer)

maybe someone knows how to do it and can share his knowledge ... ?

cheers

hi all,

using

Page 1. A6 Portrait \input knuth \page
Page 2. A6 Portrait \input knuth \page
\setuppapersize[A5,landscape][A4]
Page 3. A5
\input knuth
\stoptext

i ALMOST get the wished layout. the only problem is, that the A5
page is in landscape mode.

is there a kind of quick hack to change the orientation of the A5
page to protrait, by leaving
\setuppapersize[A5,landscape][A4]
as it stands (othewise the layout doesn't function)?

Hello Artur,

meanwhile I played a bit and got:

%
\setuppaper[nx=2, ny=2]
\setuparranging[XY]
\showframe[cut=true]

\setuppapersize[A4]
\starttext
\setuppapersize[A6][A4]
Page 1. A6 Portrait \input knuth \page
Page 2. A6 Portrait \input knuth \page
\setuppapersize[A5,landscape][A4]
\rotate[rotation=90]
 {
 \vbox to 100mm
 {
 \hsize=80mm
 Page 3. A5
 \input knuth
 }
 }
\stoptext
%

Ofcourse, the pagenumber remains, where it has been before.

Greetings,
Rudolf
