[NTG-context] Placing a page without a blank page after.

2015-04-08 Thread John Culleton
I have tried various things like
\start/stop/standardmakeup, \start/stop/TEXpage
and so on. I am trying to place a full sized page
including bleeds without a blank page following.
Sometimes It works but mostly it
gives me a blank page following.

What is the recommended solution?

[NTG-context] (hindi) font questions

2015-04-08 Thread Harald Koenig
Hi,

I'd like to type set a single hindi/devanagari word in a chapter heading (using
standalone MkVI),
where I need your help for some questions/problems:

- which (free) font do you suggest ? right now I'm using Lohit-Devanagari.
text font is 11pt Palatino, Lohit doesn't match too good, and a bold version
would be nice for the chapter head.

- font size: how do I define this font to get automatic/matching font sizes
for both the chapter head and the title of contents ?

right now I use

  \definefont [hindib] [Lohit-Devanagari at 24pt]
  ...
  \mychapter{Danke -- {\hindib  धन्यवाद}}

which gives a reaosonable font size for the chapter title,
but of course that's way too large for the TOC:-(

what's the right way to define a scalable single font (or two, if you have a
suggestion
for a normal+bold devanagari font) in ConTeXt ?

thanks,

Harald

[NTG-context] caption setup

2015-04-08 Thread Csikos Bela
Hello:

I have to setup caption formatting for Hungarian.
In Hungarian I have to write #. figure. instead of Figure #:
The exact word for figure is ábra, so what I want exactly is:
# ábra., eg 1. ábra.
How can I do it? (If I set the document language to Hungarian, the
word ábra is shown correctly but the order is not correct; I get ,. ábra:#.)

Another question: for caption text I want it to be justified and the last line
of the caption
centered. How can I do that?

Thanks,

bcsikos

Re: [NTG-context] For the Mac users: AppleScript to launch ConTeXt in a flexile way

2015-04-08 Thread Thomas Floeren

Updated (1.2.4)

http://dflect.net/context-typeset-tool/

Changes:

1.2.4 (61) (2015-04-09)

Added the option to enforce SyncTeX via command switch
`--synctex=zipped`. This will work also where `\enabledirectives
[system.synctex]` doesn’t work, for example in standalone tex
documents without components or other input files.

Changed the “typesetting started”-notification emoji from U+231A
U+FE0F to U+2615 U+FE0F. (Thank you, Apple, for having converted the
formerly nice Watch emoji into a blemished Apple Watch emoji that
resembles a piece of coal in 12pt.)

For semantic coherence changed the “typesetting finished” emoji from
U+1F3C1 to U+1F37A ;-)

Manual: Added note on auto syntax check in Product Mode.

You don’t need the „regime“ stuff in ConTeXt MkIV, at least as long as you
write in UTF-8.
But you need fonts that support your desired glyphs. DejaVu supports Russian

I can’t help you with the PDF bookmarks, sorry; I tried different options, but

3) In the TeXShop Preferences, in the Typesetting pane, I have checked the

For now the syncing seems to work essentially fine (although it is not as
precise as when using Plain TeX, or LaTeX, but probably this might be expected
beacuse mkiv is more complex).

I checked the context runner, maybe the next beta works better (i get a
zip with --synctex=zipped) but i have no clue if something useful is in
there (useability also depends on how the content is placed / generated
and there not always a 1-1 relation between this (and i have to time or
motivation to cook up a better alternative that suits context better).

[NTG-context] Help wanted: cross referencing

2015-04-08 Thread Otared Kavian
Maybe a third post will get attention from a guru…

Hi all,

As explained in the example below, I would like to setup the referencing
mechanism so that a cross reference within a given chapter gives only the
number of the section and that of an equation, while if the same reference is
used in another chapter then the number of the chapter is also included. Is
this possible with mkiv?

Best regards: OK
Here is a minimal example of what I would like to obtain:
% begin prefix-reference.tex
\setupinteraction[state=start]
\setupformulas[prefix=yes,prefixsegments=chapter:section,way=bysection,location=left]

\def\eqref#1{(\in[eq:#1])}

\startsection[title=On sequences,reference=sec:Sequences]
\placeformula[eq:Number-e]
\startformula
a_{n} := \sum_{k=0}^n {1 \over n!}
\stopformula
\stopsection

The sequence defined in equation \eqref{Number-e} cannot converge to a rational
number.

(Here I would like to have (1.1) instead of (1.1.1)).

\startsection[title=Cauchy sequences]

The sequence defined in \eqref{Number-e} satisfies $a_{n} a_{n+1} 3$ but it
does not converge to a rational number.

(Here I would like to have (1.1) instead of (1.1.1)).

\startchapter[title=What is a real number]

\startsection[title=Limits of Cauchy sequences]

Yes, this is strange. `\enabledirectives [system.synctex]` works for me *if*

\externalfigure[mylibrary][page=103], the figure is displayed. — Now I tried to
remake the resource library with changing the format from MKII to MKIV. However
there seems to be a problem, since I get only two pages of output. Even with
the enclosed minimal I get only two empty pages… What to do?

Hi Csikos,

I guess this is intended. \setuplayout[grid=yes] may impose that all
lines have to be exactly over the grid lines.

It is only an educated guess, but type at the top of your document:

\showgrid

The difference (even if you add a \title or a \chapter) may be revealng.

Just in case I’m not wrong :-),

I see what you mean. But in my opinion it should apply only if I want to change
line spacing within the text. But I would like to change the default line
spacing in my
document. I think the default grid should be set based on the default line
spacing.
The question here is, I guess, how the grid is set.

I think there is setting to change the default line spacing to which the grids
are adjusted.
The question is how?

Thanks,

Re: [NTG-context] SyncTeX and mkiv

Hi Hans,

Thanks for your attention and the new SyncTeX option: I just made some testing
with the beta from today and it seems to work. So for being useful to others,
the command I use now in TeXShop and MacOS X is:

#!/bin/bash

export PATH=/Volumes/OK/context-minimal/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin:$PATH
context --synctex=zipped --autogenerate $1 --purgeall

Best regards: OK

 Hi Thomas, Mojca and Andreas,

After playing with several options as either of you suggested, I ended up
with the following setups which solve partially the misbehaviour of SyncTeX
in mkiv. The solution works for with TeXShop on Mac OS X 10.10.2 and the
 latest standalone beta of ConTeXt.

 1) I have in a file named mkiv.engine (which sits in the folder ) the
 following lines:

  #!/bin/bash

  export PATH=/Volumes/OK/context-minimal/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin:$PATH
  context --autogenerate $1 —purgeall

 2) As one may see I do not use the option —synctex in the above context
call, since it doesn’t work correctly (beware the — shown is actually two
 hyphens {-}{-}…).

 3) In the TeXShop Preferences, in the Typesetting pane, I have checked the
radio button next to SyncTex (Tex ≥ 2010) as one may see on the attached
 screen capture.
For now the syncing seems to work essentially fine (although it is not as
precise as when using Plain TeX, or LaTeX, but probably this might be
expected beacuse mkiv is more complex).

I checked the context runner, maybe the next beta works better (i get a zip
with --synctex=zipped) but i have no clue if something useful is in there
(useability also depends on how the content is placed / generated and there
not always a 1-1 relation between this (and i have to time or motivation to
cook up a better alternative that suits context better).
