[NTG-context] Fonts in same directory.-

2016-08-16 Thread Freddy Omar López Quintero
Hello!

Today I was working perfectly but after an OS update, I started to have
some problems with fonts.

In particular, I use to put the font files (.ttf) in the same directory
where .tex are placed, but now I'm getting this message:

simplefonts > font ''avenirnext'' not found

but I have not moved the font files.

Could you please give some advices to solve this issue?

In this link you guys can check a simple example of my compiling:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2k327a5a2uzgvg2/AAD84XyQZqbdzg_8atVjdRg5a?dl=0

Thanks in advance!

Re: [NTG-context] Strange problem with Blockquote

2016-08-16 Thread Pablo Rodriguez
Hi Robert,

from what I get from your message, there is only one blockquote in the
introduction.

How about adding the following code before \starttext?

\startsectionblockenvironment[frontpart]
\setupinterlinespace[small] % or whichever value you want
\stopsectionblockenvironment

I think it might work. I hope it helps,

Pablo

[NTG-context] Strange problem with Blockquote

2016-08-16 Thread Robert Blackstone
Dear all,

I have a small but nasty problem with the book I’m (still) working on.

Its 10 chapters contain many Blockquotes, and they all come out as intended
except one, in the first, unnumbered, chapter “Introduction". That particular
blockquote v]comes out like the others only as far as its width and its
fontsize are concerned, but unlike the others it insists on keeping the same
interline distance as the main text. Even that would not have been too much of
a problem if it had not spoiled the layout by pushing a rather large float off
the page, leaving a large gap.

This particular chapter is input by means of the Frontmatter file, as is Ch1,
which also contains several Blockquotes, that come out OK.

When I process this chapter “Introduction" separately with the same setups the
blockquote also comes out allright.
When, as a test, I input that chapter again, the second time through the
Bodymatter, then again it comes out allright (while the blockquote in the real
Ch0 keeps its large interline distance).

I have tried the following:
- add the setup for the blockquote to the Frontmatter file
- add the setup for the blockquote also to the Ch0 file itself
- add \setupinterlinespace[small] in the text just before the blockquote and
\setupinterlinespace[reset] after it.
None of this has changed the interline distance of the blockquote one bit.

Is there anybody on this list for whom this problem is or sounds familiar and
who knows a remedy?
If not, which information would I have to give to make a diagnosis possible?
(It may be evident that it is impossible to show the problem in an MWE.)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,
Robert Blackstone

yes, I was aware of that, that's why I mentioned a "single-drawings-character".

there is no easy way to convert that into a dotted line that matches the ‘black
parts’ of the glyph shape. Perhaps you could use two regular fonts: one
sans-serif and one with dotted lines? There are some free fonts with dotted
lines that can be found on the web, e.g. here:

Great, it seems that "Trace Font for Kids"
http://www.fontspace.com/p-j-cassel/trace-font-for-kids
would be exactly what I need.

Another option would be draw the ‘normal’ uppercase letter directly as a
metapost path.

Yes, I thought so.

In that case it would be rather simple to create a generic dotted path from
that using ‘setdash’. However, without manual work, it will not look as good as
pre-drawn font, because for a ‘nice’ dotted path you need to make sure that the
dots in the crossbar of an ‘A’ line up nicely with the dots in the diagonal
outer strokes, which is quite hard to do.

OK, thanks for you response - I'll try Trace Font for Kids first.

Best regards,

Lukas

Best wishes,
Taco

the best one can expect without too much work is

\startMPpage
draw outlinetext.f
("A")
() ;
currentpicture := currentpicture shifted (-bbwidth currentpicture,0) ;
draw outlinetext.d
("A")
(withpen pencircle scaled 1/10
 dashed withdots scaled 1/20) ;
\stopMPpage

[NTG-context] Dotted characters

2016-08-16 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing .

Hello,

I'm preparing a child copybook.
I'd like to write a uppercased letter "as is" followed by its shape drawn with
dots - something like

   /\ .
  / \ . .
 /\ .
/ \ . .

I guess that some MP "trick(s)" might be used;
also, a "simple" font should be used to be drawn dotted, which uses "single
drawings" to draw each line of the character.

Could anybody help with such (MP) code?

Best regards,

Lukas
