YMMV. Technical discussion (probably should go to the dev-list): Since I have no clear view of where else the code is used, I'm not sure whichplace to fix, but the definition (and comment) of \linklisttoelement and \gotonextinternal do not agree on what to print: Note that the comment here refers to a fifth argument which does not exist: \def\linklisttoelement#1#2#3#4% % list location format page data {\gotonextinternal\currentlist{#1}{#3}{#4}} Therefore, \gotonextinternal in its fourth argument gets the page number. Dirar BOUGATEF wrote: What is the folder script in cont-tmf ? I had to copy manually the texexec.pl from this folder to my bin folder to update texexec with the 5.0 version. Should not that have been done when i unzipped every thing or is it done on purpose (To me it looks like the peltk folder in texmf\context). In the latest TDS specs, scripts now reside under the ../scripts path instead of under package entries (like ../context). One way to locate a script used to be to call 'kpsewhich' with the format 'other text files' but now the format is 'texmfscripts'. The consequence of this is, that (combined with moved enc and map files in combination with strict paths in the texmf.cnf files), tex distributions are not downward compatible. The assumption is more or less that users reinstall the whole lot and don't have their own fonts and such -) Another change is the flattening of format suffixes to fmt (so make sure that you remove the efmt ones when you update binaries); although the spec suggests the usage of an $engine subpath (in order to distinguish formats) it looks like distributions will not implement this (too difficult). The way context deals with that is the following: - you can use texmfstart (ruby script, win binary at our website) to launch a resource (document, script. whatever is supported) - you can use textools --fixtexmftree to convert an old to a new tree - you can use --engine (or set the var in texexec.ini) to use the $engine subpath conforming the TDS structure [unfortunately it looks like the $engine subpath will not be supported by texmf.cnf file; so much for standards] alternatively, one can (manually) adapt the texmf.cnf file (or have a partial copy in your local tree) that extends the enc + map paths to the old locations Launching a script, can be done indirectly, using texmfstart, like texmfstart texexec.pl ... args ... or one can make a small stub, for instance: texmfstart --make texexec.pl and move the resulting bat file in one of your bin path. The texmfstart route is supposed to work with the old and new trees and future trees (since I will try to keep texmfstart downward compatible). [on unix, it's hard to distinguish files by type, i.e. texexec can be a stub, perl script, binary, whatever; in this case, texmfstart will create a Note that distributions have different means of locating scripts and resources, in which case you depend on the integrety of a distribution. In case of problems, you can always replace the stubs by texmfstart based stubs. Because of testing for tex live (which is the reference cross platfoirm tex distribution), i package the zips in the new structure and this means that users who have old trees and binaries may run into problems when they mix things. [these changes in the enc/map file locations may give users who have their own font trees some headaches; also, if you use scripts in your own scripting tools e.g. in server apps, then you should be aware of the fact that locating scripts needs patches, i.e. the format fed to kpsewhich; here i have so many scripts that i don't put them all in the path, for instance because of name clashes, and i used to use kpsewhich to locate them; using texmfstart in such cases is more future safe, and with the coming new kpse run-as-deamon libraries it may become faster as well] Hans - Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl - ___ ntg-context mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context

Nevertheless, whitespaces at the beginning of line are ignored when using \obeyspaces, so you additionally need to write an escaped whitespace '\ ' or \strut at the beginning of line (I guess there's a more efficient solution for that, but I'm no expert). But if you really only need whitespace at the beginning of line, probably make something like: \def\tab{\strut\hbox to 3em{}} % or any other size instead 3em instead of using \obeyspaces and simply put \tab where you need a certain amount of white space. Mojca Using eplain.tex you can say: \verbatim |endverbatim (note bar instead of backslash.) If you need a vertical bar in the verbatim text then just double it. Anything in between including blank spaces and lines is printed verbatim. Context used to complain about one non-critical statement in the eplain file. Actually it complains about the following statement but you can easily spot the troublemaker. Delete it and eplain works fine with Context. Re: [NTG-context] shading in meta[post/play] PDF
Mojca Miklavec wrote: Problem description: I have a computer program, which carries the data about the grid points on a sphere (possibly with different colors defined in these points) and how the points are connected with each other to form a grid. I would take these triangles (or quadrilaterals), draw them transformed on the plane (with curves, not with straight lines) and fill them with the appropriate shading pattern (colors defined in corners of the triangles (darker according to normal vector) simply interpolated between the three points). Yet another possibility would probably be to use function-based shading and define a function which knows how the points have to be shaded on the sphere, but the latter seems more complicated and less universal. Problem reduction: Fill a mp closed path with any more complex shading. So I would probably need Type 6 or 7 shading (Type 4 would be OK as the picture can be clipped within metapost, so that the resulting sphere borders are not composed of straight lines; the articles on http://www.math.ubc.ca/people/faculty/cass/graphics/text/www/ which inspired me to do something so crazy actually use Type 4 shading). Type one is probably the most general one, so it should be OK too, just complicated to do. However: I'm not sure if, say, a (sampled) function to be passed to PDF can be specified in metapost elegantly. i searched my machine extensively but it seems that i lost some code that could be used as starting point for that; Page 746 of PDF Reference, version 1.6 also defines an interesting new feature: 3D objects (3D Artwork as they call it), but I haven't found anything else about that. there is a section about shading, the function numbers differ; In dvipdfm there's an example of using: \special{pdf: bt rotate 90 xscale 2.0 } These lines are to be used in TeX. MetaPost also knows a special command, I just don't know how to use it. (This is probably the communication channel to PDF when trying to implement some more exotic shadings.) take a look at supp-mpe.tex, all we need is some variant on \defineMPspecial{31} {\startMPshading{16}% type 3 \setMPshadingcolors{4}{5}{6}{10}{11}{12}% \immediate\pdfobj {/FunctionType 2 /Domain [\gMPs1 \gMPs2] /C0 [\MPshadeA] /C1 [\MPshadeB] /N \gMPs3}% \immediate\pdfobj {/ShadingType 3 /ColorSpace /\MPshadeC\space /Function \the\pdflastobj\space 0 R /Coords [\gMPs7 \gMPs8 \gMPs9 \gMPs{13} \gMPs{14} \gMPs{15}] /Extend [true true]}% \stopMPshading} (plus some more depending on what parameters need to be passed) I glimpsed the mp-spec.mp file, but I didn't yet understand how the parameters are passed to PDF. [NTG-context] encoding problem
Was this problem solved? If not, the problem may be in not loading a map file; typescripts take care of this. btw, one you see the light, typescripts are not that hard, see examples in wiki, Bill M's font page and Adam L's myways. Hans Hello, I'm working on some XSL stylesheets for translating XML documents into Context. Although I've read the document Fonts in Context and understood that one could use typescripts for managing fonts, in the context of my stylesheets I'd rather like to stick to the \definebodyfont command, because so far it works and I'm a bit confused about all those indirections one has to use when defining typescripts. The only thing which doesn't seem to work are font encodings. Please, take a look at the following document: % \enableregime[il1] \mainlanguage[de] \language[de] \setupencoding[default=texnansi] \definefontsynonym[NewCenturySchoolbook][pncr8r][encoding=texnansi] \definebodyfont[4pt,5pt,6pt,7pt,8pt,9pt,10pt,11pt,12pt,14.4pt,17.3pt][rm] [tf=NewCenturySchoolbook sa 1] \definefont[nctr][NewCenturySchoolbook at 10pt] \setupbodyfont[10pt] \starttext {\nctr \showcharacters} {\showcharacters} \stoptext % Defining the font directly with \definefont leads to a texnansi-encoded table of characters, so that I could use the special German umlaut characters (which is my intention, of course). The definition of the font with \definebodyfont produces a default-encoded table with characters, which are *not* texnansi-encoded, because all the umlaut characters are missing. At least using Windows XP, TexLive 2004 distribution (MikTeX). I don't understand why this happens for two reasons: 1. Both commands (\definebodyfont and \definefont) use the same synonym for the font, with an explicitely defined texnansi-encoding. 2. The default encoding of the whole document was set to texnansi. It is getting even more disturbing when I'm setting the body font size to 12pt. (Using the command \setupbodyfont[12pt]). Then both tables are showing a texnansi-encoded font. What has font size to do with encodings? Since I don't want to use a body font size of 12pt in all of my documents, only to be able to use German umlaut characters, any hints to what I'm doing wrong here would be appreciated very much. Taco Hoekwater wrote: basically you want to follow a shape; this is not that hard to implement so i can have a look at it; lettrines is then an instance of it Lettrine is easier than that, actually. I thought this would be quite funny, so here is a brand new module called t-lettri.tex, and an example. ah, nice, so, lettrines only does a slanted shape? i played a bit with shapes last night and will probably add something to the drop macros, and probably also move the code to core-fnt; but it will be a bit more complex and take some more time; it's a good testbed for playing with things like glyph shape similarity and such; also, proper alignment is an issue. (i attached supp-fu3.tex, no production code, just for fun) concerning your module, maybe we should introduce a new category of modules, e.g. c-lettrines.tex with x meaning 'converted'; we can then collect them in another zip; remark 1: \sbox is already definined and in use, i remember someone telling me that this \hbox{{#1}} stuff is needed to satisfy latex's color mechanism, but that's not needed in context, so a simple \setbox\Lettrinetbox{} is not only even more efficient in terms of tokens and performance (unnoticable) but also does not clash with the core macro. remark 2: auto-lettrines (dropcaps etc) are kind of complex in the sense that it's not trivial to pick up the first 'something' in a paragraph in a robust way [we may want some extension to tex for that (so we have something to discuss during our trip to eurotex -) Hans - Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl - supp-fu3.tex Description: TeX document ___ ntg-context mailing list ntg-context@ntg.nl http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context
