[NTG-context] Setupparagraphnumbering

2013-04-04 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
since I got the same issue reported in that unanswered question
http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/064172.html, before
switch from the 0.70 version installed by default in Ubuntu to another
one, is the \setupparagraphnumbering command supposed to work well
now?

My best regards

There are zips on http://minimals.contextgarden.net/pragma/, but one

Or what exactly would you like to see in that zip?

Thanks Wolfgang for the reply, but this isn't exactly what I was looking for.
As you can see here
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Framed
the box isn't filled on the right side because Context, in such way,
formats the text.
What I was looking for is a 'snaked' output where the text follows in
a new line once it reaches the right side of the box.

[NTG-context] Setting framed

2009-03-21 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
in my text each section ends with an one-line box so I used \framed
(thinking that's the right way).
How to put each box at the same distance from last previous line even
it comes after a list, a table, a regular text...?
There is an the option to set the \framed's font globally?

Thanks in advance

 Hello List,

I'm trying to design a little booklet on the form two A5 pages on a A4
sheet. It's not hard to do as it is well documented.

The problem is the following: I would like to add a table (actually a
people list with firstname, lastname, mobile, address and so on and so
on) that is quite wide. The idea is to put it on a double page (ie,
when you open the booklet, the table is on both the left and the right
 page).

The easy way would be to 1) manually cut the table in two tables (a
left one and a right one) that fit on a page and 2) to put them each
on their own page, beeing sure the left one is on a left page. Here,
the difficulty is to align both tables accross the pages.

Another way would be to ask context to do that by himself. Is there a
 way to do that?

Thanks for clarification, here I begin to understand

If your stopper is, say ) (and the second one, say, ], so you have

 Hi Diego,

Alans entries for the font names are correct because the files have different

creating missing subfolders
3) ran fc-cache -f -r -v /usr/share/fonts $MYCONTEXTFOLDER

A little issue when $MYCONTEXTFOLDER and files to build aren't on the

 I really couldn't think that problem was font-dependent :)
Indeed... I pointed you to the very helpful 'special search' box in
the wiki's homepage.

Yes, thanks, works fine, but does it really use XeTeX? The wiki says:
XeTeX offers some nice features in terms of automatically finding
related fonts in a family which would be really convenient to use. I
really can't find docs on the difference between XeTeX and non-XeTeX
 font handling in ConTeXt.
Sorry, I don't know the answer (I'm a very beginner), but the given
example works (for me) only in xetex.

[NTG-context] Luatex arranging

2008-06-30 Thread Diego Depaoli
Wolfgang and Hans have just solved a problem and I'm here again to ask for help.
Is arranging already supported in Luatex?
If I call context --arrange (undocumented) with the following simple
code I get the toc, but the text is only on the left side of the
paper.

\setuparranging[2UP]

\dorecurse{15}{\input ward}

setenv TEXROOT /home/diego/tex
setenv TEXPATH /home/diego/tex

setenv TEXMFOS /home/diego/tex/texmf-freebsd
setenv PATH /home/diego/tex/texmf-freebsd/bin:$PATH
setenv TEXMFCACHE /home/diego/tex/texmf-cache
and until now all works fine.
May be TEXMFLOCAL and OSFONTDIR are missed, but I ask...
are all those variables set by setuptex still needed?

2008-06-14 Thread Diego Depaoli
2008/6/14 Mojca Miklavec [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

That's not a general solution, but if you need it for yourself, you
can put the following to some file and execute it whenever you want:

 rsync -av rsync://contextgarden.net/minimals/current/context/beta/
 /path/to/your/texmf/
 rsync -av rsync://contextgarden.net/minimals/current/bin/luatex/linux/bin/
 /path/to/your/binaries/
 etc.

There's a limited set of folders that you need to update, and it will
only update new files, you don't need to update everything.
In a world without firewall rules that would a good compromise :-)

About the topic...
even I don't like prepackaged softwares, we cannot forget that most
users want download, doubleclick, install and run without other
noises, so I agree with Andrea's thoughts, but ConTeXt has a
complicated structure/hierarchy (updated often) which doesn't make
easier the job.
Furthermore let me doubt that a simplified installation it's enough to
persuade new users since ConTeXt requires manuals reading which is
universally considered a waste of time.

Over the years, I've been using mainly FreeBSD. But recently I gave the
Ubuntu distribution a chance. It's a really nice, and easier to manage,
distribution based on Debian Linux. I warmly recommend it.

Ubuntu or Mandriva.are good choices for ex-windows users,
You can try also OpenSolaris which seems very, very promising.

Re: [NTG-context] modules maps fails

2008-06-07 Thread Diego Depaoli
2008/6/7 Taco Hoekwater [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
This is a dud/bug: there really is no font named CharterBT-SmallCap.

The name was accidentally created when converting from tfm to actual
font names (fontinst and texfont both have a virtual small caps and
an oblique charter font, but is totally artificial).

 \definefontsynonym [Charter-Roman-Caps] [file:bchrc8a]

hopefully fixes that. The rest of the typescript should be fine.

 Proper fix - Hans, Taco,
should I filter the useful files out of that zip and add them to the
 minimals? Which ones?

Yes, but proposing a truly minimal set is beyond me. Charter, Utopia and
Verdana are useful for sure. I am not so sure about antp and lbr, but
perhaps it is easiest to simply include all fonts that are not
 superseded by tex-gyre.

Texfont is always on my desktop waiting to be read, so I understood
the 5% of this discussion,
but this list is very, very helpful.

Many thanks
